We got a good deal from lastminute.com, and were allocated a (disabled) standard double room (114 I think). As it was a disabled room it may have been roomier than others, and the bathroom had no bath just a massive walk in shower with a disabled seat. That made us laugh a bit because it wasn't very romantic, felt more like being in hospital with the panic chords etc, however it was beautifully clean and the bed was large, comfortable, spotless. It does feel like a great business hotel in that it doesn't have much character in the rooms, although the shared spaces in lobby are very attractive and welcoming. We had two niggles - one was that there was a wedding on and our room was outside the lift. Until 2 am drunken guests kept piling out of the lift and making a racket (not the hotel's fault, but still a shame as we had left our two young kids at grandmas with the dream of getting a wondeful night's sleep). The other was that at breakfast, the hot buffet came a bit in dribs and drabs and wasn't replenished very fast. There seemed to be a slight lack of management at breakfast - the staff all worked very hard it just needed a bit more organisation. The food was nice when it came though and full choice was on offer (we heard other guests complaining to the management that there had been no breakfast available when they were there, but as they were there the same time as us I am not sure they were being entirely truthful). We didn't eat there in the evening as Exeter has so many nice restaurants. All in all, a nice place to stay and very close to everything. A little tip: buy breakfast tokens the night before for £10 as if you buy it on the day it is £16 and it isn't worth that!
