“Good until you get noisy neigbours!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here a couple of times now on business. It's really handy for the M5 motorway and the Exeter Business Park. Rooms are good and breakfast is typical HIE fare.

There's a good pub across the (large, free)car park with a good choice of food (The Barn Owl). Its a Vintage Inn so if you know one of those you know the standard to expect.

Downside - the walls are very thin (especially those with a link door to the next room). If like me, you get neighbours who arrive at 1am and then play loud rap music, you will not get any sleep. They sound to be in your room. If they then decide to 'pleasure one another' at 5.15am they will waken you up! But I am pleased for them that it was enjoyable!!

Thank you for your comments and taking the time to put your views on Tripadvisor.

Firstly, I do sincerely apologise you were put in one of our interconnecting rooms, we do try our very best not too allocate these rooms when we have sufficient availability to allow our guests to have alternative bedrooms.
We do strongly advise our guests that any disturbance coming from another room can be reported to our 24-hour team member’s on reception and we then act immediately to prevent this disturbing any of our guests.

I am pleased to hear the rest of the Hotel met your needs and expectations. Please do contact the Hotel directly to request a non-adjoining room and we will gladly assign this for you for your next stay with us.

We look forward to seeing you again.

“HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS - EXETER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT !!!! Very welcoming, friendly staff - quick booking in, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel was spotless and our room (210) was first class - very spacious with a large bathroom and shower, all very well equipped. The 'Park and Ride' bus stops right outside and takes you into Exeter City Centre (15 mins away), hence no need to use our car whilst we were there - bonus! The buses run every 12 mins - so convenient. Breakfast was brill too - such good value for money all round. Can't recommend it enough. We will certainly return when next in that part of the country.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked car park and front entrance to hotel; we could hear people coming and going as w...

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have stayed here a few times as I was on a massage training course located at the Regus offices behind the hotel. I really like the fact that it's so accessible, just off the motorway junction.

Staff were always very pleasant and helpful. I did have a few problems the first stay due to being in an adjoining room, but the staff couldn't be more apologetic, unlike the other guests! I asked to stay in a non adjoining room the next stays and all was fine.

I always found breakfast nice! Rooms always cleaned daily and stocked up with towels/ tea/ coffee etc... Drinks at the bar abit pricey. Food available over the road/ takeaway menus available/ sainsburys/ m&s services not far away/ pizzas & sandwiches from the bar.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and I'm sure I will!

“Convenient, good for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Located 2 minutes from the M5 junction 29, the hotel location avoids the need to navigate Exeter city centre, but still within 15 minutes drive to the city (20 minutes to the University). Parking is ample and free, which doesn't occur with city centre hotels.

The layout is very standard for the chain (this was our first visit, but my family thought we had been before), but it's modern, tidy and clean. The rooms are "big enough" for an overnight stay, not for a longer stay though. We like that there is an option for more than 2 to stay, at £25/night premium per added person.

We didn't sample the bar, or the adjacent pub restaurant, but they looked OK. Breakfast was reasonable, but don't expect lots of choice.

Comfort of the bed was an issue for my wife, as it was quite 'bouncy' .

Everything else was fine.

Thank you for your comments; we are really excited to read about all of our guests experiences.

I’m glad you found the hotel was easily accessible and parking met your requirements too.

As a reputable company, we aim to offer all our customers, a reliable and consistent service, and this is why you’ll find the layout of the hotel and the services we offer are very similar to those around the country, and the rest of the world. We want all of our customers to know exactly what to expect when they book with us, our customers have said they really appreciate the consistency they experience when travelling between hotels too.

After collecting vital feedback from our guests over a six month period, we have introduced new items to our breakfast area in response to the feedback we received. We now believe we have a wide range of both continental and cooked breakfast options catering for all of our guests needs.

I’m sorry that our choice of beds did not meet your wife’s expectations; at the moment we do not have a selection of soft and hard mattresses, however our beds were renewed in 2011. This is something I can of course, mention to my management team.

Thanks again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back here again.

Kindest regards

Merryn Pollard
