“hotel clean, excellent location but no sleep!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

Staff, (apart from the head receptionist who was very brusque and business like- no small chat and not the ideal person to deal with the public) were very friendly, polite and helpful.
Everything was clean, nice soft towels, comfortable bed but oh dear, the walls are paper thin. I was in room 1, right by the front door and for many hours after I had gone to bed, guests kept running down the stairs calling to each other and then running out side slamming the front door. Easy to hear these loud voices once they were outside and then later everything happened in reverse. One person managed to lock himself out and for ages he banged on the front door and called for his friend 'Joe' (just in case you may recognise this!) - eventually Joe ran downstairs to let him in. Sadly, it was the other residents that ruined my night's sleep! So sadly, if I'm ever back down in Exeter I'll be staying somewhere else.

“Unfortunately a unhappy customer”

Nice enough location but truly terrible customer service, called several times to deal with a booking issue and routinely fobbed off - very much in the line of 'get them off the phone and then forget' as opposed to having an interest in the customer. Would not recommend for business use.

“An Average hotel with no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

I guess you get what you pay for, and this hotel certainly serves its purpose for those who are making a short trip in Exeter. Rooms were clean, functional, and basic. The bed was a bit springy which is probably my only negative. Location is good - within walking distance from Exeter Central and St Davids mainline stations - and is located conveniently to the town centre. The cooked breakfast was actually very nice, well cooked, and substantial. Not an unpleasant stay, and would recommend for short visits only.

“great fraindly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2010

I had the opportunity to stay at the Clock Tower Hotel for a conference held at Exeter University. It is only a short walk from the campus and close to the central bus station and rail.
The single room was beautiful and spacious and Internet access is free, which is a big bonus.
The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
When I return to Exeter, this is where I'll stay.

“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2009

We stayed in room number 1,which was a large double, on the ground floor overlooking the front. The hotel is set well back from the very busy road so the traffic noise wasn't a problem.
Our room was fairly large with a good bathroom and much nicer than some of the B & B's we've stayed in at the same price (£75).
The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was slightly haphazard, but I think everyone had decided to come down at once, also it was one of the busiest weekends of the year, freshers !!
I would certainly rate this above other places we have stayed in the centre of Exeter.
