“Superb hotel, very friendly service - definitely pick this hotel when in Dartmouth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011 via mobile

I booked a Thursday night stay via the website in a superior room. On arrival we were given room number one with a four poster bed - I think this was the best room in the hotel.

The staff are very friendly and put you at ease effortlessly. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom and shower was gorgeous.

Breakfast was delicious, I'd recommend that you stay here - it's great, we certainly are coming back. Ian Dec 2011

“Very nice hotel - very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Stayed at Browns on Saturday night - last minute booking - great welcome on arrival - shown to room which was the smallest we had stayed in for a long time and I was initially disappointed, but it had everything you could possible need and more - bed was very comfortable and clean - fantastic wallpaper - bathroom great and the shower was fantastic - gorgeous white towels - tea and coffee with a cafetiere (never had that before and the coffee was gorgeous) hairdryer, tv, toiletries very well equippped. Only thing was all our windows were frosted so it did feel like we were in a box - would not like to stay in this room for any longer than two nights, especially not in the summer. Reception area, bar and dining room are all very well appointed - great colour schemes and the staff are very friendly. It is a very welcoming, relaxed kind of place - we ate in the restaurant and the food was very good - great wine list - should have tried the cocktails but didn't see the list until I had my G & T in front of me! next time! Breakfast was excellent and very hot - the homemade yoghurt is wonderful. The only thing is parking, but we were lucky enough to be able to park directly outside overnight. Great hotel - lovely atmosphere - will stay here again and recommend it. OOh and Dartmouth by the way is wonderful.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 10 at the back of the hotel

“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

This is a super place to stay in Dartmouth. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the breakasts are what you would expect. I think the best bit of the hotel was the bed, I have very rarely slept in such comfort, the rest of the room was nicely furnished to a high quality and very clean. Don't go expecting one of the big brand hotel clinical interiors, it is a lovely old building with the normal associated quirks. It's modern interior blends well with the character of the building.

“Nice but over priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

Chic and friendly but small rooms and slightly too expensive for what you get. We did a late deal on a superior double...as we arrived another couple were complaining about the size of theirs -they were told 'superior' meant you get a bath. Space to walk between bed and bathroom was a bit tight, we both grazed our shins bumping into the wooden bedpost! Restaurant dinner was good, but not as excellent as the (admittedly pricier) Seahorse on the waterfront. Breakfast was very good. Parking was a pubic car park 5 mins walk away that involved waiting for a space. We also spent a night at the nearby Royal Court Hotel ... They gave us a better price and (even with the touristy pub on the ground floor) it was the nicer hotel. Browns is a good hotel but charged a little too much for what it could offer.

“Can't be faulted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

Browns offers a haven of excellent service and quiet attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff-whether manager or cleaner. A wonderful example of customer service-not obsequious, just considerate. Food amazing. Martini even more so! Like a lot of people I've stayed in a great number of good hotels around the world and this hotel compares well. Browns has a nice feel. Don't stay here if you want a corporate style 4 star non-descript hotel where you wake up and could be in yet another very decent chain somewhere/anywhere. Will definitely be back! Miss Picky

Room Tip: We had the four poster room which was lovely. Full of character and good shower and bath.
