“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Truly a great B&B.

Room great: all fresh and clean, new bathroom all new with luxury soaps, comfy bed, stunning views over the river.

Food great: fresh local produce used, one of the best English breakies I've had, dinner was very good too.

The house is nicely decorated and homely, downstairs in the common lounge and dining room there's plenty of room and books and local pamphlets.

I rarely give full marks, but honestly there was no faults, a really great B&B in a wonderful part of Devon.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. And they have 2 lovely dogs!

Room Tip: we got the one with a balcony.

“A charming place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed every minute, especially the two charming laboradors. Dinner included canapes, a choice of three courses (very good fillet of beef one night, sparkling fresh gurnard the next), coffee and home-made chocs - very nice! The Plymouth bedroom is spacious with a fabulous bay window. Very comfortable bed and quality sheets, spotless bathroom. The TV is small and some distance from the bed but that's not the end of the world. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay.

“Treat yourselves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Recommended by a friend, Nonsuch House is a place to be pampered. Penny and Kit could not be more accommodating -- the views from high above the River Dart are splendid.

“Paradise found!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We were looking for somewhere in Devon to give us our first taste of the county. A number of people recommended Dartmouth (they were right) and one suggested Nonsuch House - they were not mistaken either Travelling down with a doom laden weather forecast still ringing in our ears, we arrived to find blue skies and sunshine; although grey skies and blustery conditions would not have spoilt the experience!

A welcoming cup of tea on the terrace and our first opportunity to take in the stunning view across the River Dart to Dartmouth and out beyond the river to the open sea. The accommodation was decorated to a very high standard and was clean and fresh. The rooms were very well appointed and although there was Wi-Fi available, you should really turn the gadget off and enjoy the views!

We were only staying for 2 nights but were fortunate to be there for one of the nights when Kit (the owner) cooks - delicious. There are also some great restaurants in Dartmouth (a short trip across the river - last ferry back is at 22:55) and Kit & Penny were happy to provide recommendations/make bookings and again we were not disappointed.

All together, a great weekend and in no small part due to our experience at Nonsuch. Thank you and see you again.

“Fantastic hotel, lovely hosts - will definitely go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

We stayed here at short-notice and plucked the hotel at random - but what a lucky find! Its really a very special Guest House with only 5 rooms which are all beautifully decorated. Penny and Kit are a lovely couple who make you welcome from the moment you walk in the door (they made us afternoon tea in their lovely garden to welcome us and help us to settle in as soon as we got there). The room we had at the top of the house was absolutley gorgeous - all along a nautical theme with stunning views from our small balcony across the river Dart to Dartmouth.

We ate dinner in the hotel 5 times and the food was really top quality and again the atmosphere Penny and Kit created was relaxed and easy-going with guests swapping stories about what they had done during the day, where they would recommend others to go locally etc. - just a really informal feeling of friends getting together for a good meal. Oh and you can take your own wine!

There was nothing we would have changed, it was all just so perfect and Penny and Kit work incredibly hard to make it so. We will go back again without a doubt. In fact most of the people staying there during our stay were people who had been back several times!

Room Tip: 3 of the rooms have balconies, try and get one of them.
