“There's a lot on offer here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

A boutique B&B seems really right for this. Amelia and Tim were great hosts for the St Mawes experience (5 mins walk to several restaurants and the harbour for boat trips).
Clean and very comfortable rooms are beautifully modern/contemporary design (family home).
Our brief stay only whets the appetite for a return visit to use the organised walking Tim offers although my sailing skills are not up for the use of the boat.
The area has so much to offer nearby that it easily wins the north coast/south coast battle.
Many thanks are due to you guys for such a memorable 25th wedding anniversary.

Room Tip: Percuil is a generous room/ace en-suite + tea & coffee just outside.

“Nearwater scores top marks time after time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Nearwater has the feel of a boutique hotel rather than a B & B and why we returned again this autumn to enjoy the graceful comfort and relaxed quiet efficiency where little touches (such as delicious little homemade biscuits on our return to our room in the afternoon) make the difference between a really pleasurable and memorable stay against the norm. This really is a gem and worth a special visit to this wonderful seaside village with great restaurants on the doorstep - you are certainly made to feel special and it comes highly recommended on all counts. It could not disappoint even the most discerning.

“Superb,superb,superb!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Myself and my wife stayed at the Nearwater bed and breakfast in Saint Mawes, for our pre honeymoon (or as my wife called it our Mini Moon). From the wonderful drive down to the location right up to the front door we knew we were going somewhere special! On arriving we found that the owners Amelia and Tim were just as special!!! The converted bungalow is very impressive and themed on the seaside location.

The room was very nice with fresh flowers and cleaned to a very high standard (being an ex Army man I gave it quick inspection and it passed with flying colours). The on sweet bathroom was decorated to very high standard with a wonderful very hot power shower.
On arriving we were asked if we would like tea or coffee which was brought to our room shortly after arriving.

The town itself was very nice with restaurants, coffee bars, shops, etc to be visited whilst you are there. There is also a water taxi which will take you across the river to Falmouth.

The weekend that we were there, there was the yearly charity swim from the Falmouth castle to the St Mawes castle. There were approximately 100 swimmers all swimming the mile across, 3 of which were Amelia, Tim and their daughter. And for good measure Tim did a run and cycle ride after the swim. All of which was for help for heroes, so well done guys!!!!!!

The breakfast was superb with great service to boot. Tim makes his own granola which we still haven’t been able to buy any in the shops which is as nice. (Please can we have the recipe). Every day there is a full English and a breakfast special to choose from. When we there it was scrambled eggs with smoke salmon. Yummy! And the following day homemade pancakes and bacon. Yummy! After being fed we were visited by their dog who was just as nice as its owners and if my wife had let me we would have taken him home!

All in all a very pleasant weekend, we would recommend to any one! A fantastic place for any occasion with owners who just finish it off, well done Tim and Amelia!!!!! Thank You for such a wonderful Mini Moon!!!!!

“Friendly, relaxing base for the Roseland Peninsula”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We'd been to St. Mawes briefly on another trip and decided to stay for a few nights on our next trip to Cornwall, and we picked out Nearwater. In a quiet location a few minutes' walk from the town centre, just a minute from the Percuil river and with its own offstreet parking, it was an excellent base for walks or trips by car or boat to explore the area. Amelia and Tim came out to say hello before we'd even turned the engine off, and five minutes later after arriving on a dark autumn evening we had our feet up by the fire in the guest lounge with a glass of welcome cider, maps of the area, books and board games in easy reach.

I think our room was the 'small one' but very comfortable and stylish nonetheless

As we were staying a few nights, the ever changing breakfast specials were very welcome. As guests eat together at Nearwater, it wasn't long before you were spending too much time chatting over the smoked salmon and scrambled egg or Tim's moorish home-made Granola (my favourite) and not enough time seeing Cornwall!

Amelia and Tim were very helpful with ideas about things to do around St. Mawes and beyond. Though we didn't get the chance this time, in season they offer trips in their sailing boat for a modest fee, and Amelia's passion for sea swimming almost (but not quite) got me to go for an early morning autumn dip. Their enthusiasm for the area is simply wonderful.

After a few days at Nearwater, Tim and Amelia feel more like friends than hosts, and surely that's how it should always feel when it's time to go home, so well done and thank you!

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We had a two night mid-week break for our anniversary and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Nearwater has the presentation of a quality modern hotel, with the warmth and welcome from wonderful hosts. We found an easy balance of privacy and great conversation and advice where requested, and with the added bonus of being able to bring the dog it was an absolutely fantastic break. The brekkie was delicious too! Thoroughly recommended.
