“Lucky find - wonderful place!”

My wife and I stayed here during this last week (October half-term) - we love St Ives and looked online for places to stay. We found this jewel of a place and am very glad we did too! Situated very close to the town (literally 3mins walk) and harbour front, with parking!! Nice and quiet - it was a wonderful find, the bed was extremely comfy, the facilities were immaculately clean, comfortable and functional and above all - the owners/hosts, Roy and Vicky, were some of the most genuinely lovely people we've ever met, they made us feel incredibly welcome and that nothing was too much to ask - thank you! The front room we stayed in had a lovely view of the harbour, wifi was provided too. Not a B&B but all items needed to cater for breakfast were provided. Can't say how grateful we are to have found it, we will definitely be back! As we are expecting our first child we'd be more than happy to take our child with us to this wonderful place! Try this place out, you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, we stayed in the front room with seaview - this was our choice so go for t...

“Lovely place, but not all rooms suitable for babies”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

We stayed here for a week in August 2011 with our 15-month-old baby and felt very welcome.

Our room (the small room to the back) was lovely, very nicely decorated with antique furniture and a lot of attention to detail. Although the room doesn't have a big view, it faces nicely out into a green backyard. There is a shower in the room, the loo is down the hallway - which didn't bother us at all.

However, I would not recommend this room if you are travelling with small children. There was no baby cot but we got a mattress to build a little baby bed on the floor, which was okay. But there are only limited facilities for preparing meals in the room, especially if you have a baby (e.g. not enough space to put all the food; the table is quite low and not very stable; there is no baby high chair, etc.). Also, some of the furniture is not very babysafe and can topple over.

And as there is no separate living room/bar, etc. in the hotel, there is nowhere to spend the evenings after baby has gone to bed apart from the terrace - and that is only comfy in good weather.

So all in all, great location, nice hosts, lovely rooms, but at least the back room is more suited to couples than to families.

Room Tip: If you travel with children, consider the apartment - but be aware that it has stairs (two levels).

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

This was not a B & B as the facility is in the room with a toaster , fridge and kettle. Cutlery and tray. For the Price a proper served breakfast would have been excellent.
With hindsight would have enjoyed a communal Breakfast so would not book on room only basis.

Room Tip: The Front Room has the best VIEW outside. The Seagulls are very noisy first thing in the morning I r...

“Don't think twice...just book it! You won't be disappointed.”

Stayed in the room at the front and found the place to be as wonderful as described in previous reviews (every word is true). Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable and had a spectacular view over St Ives towards the sea. Roy picked us up from the station and waited for us, even though our train was half an hour late.
No8 is perfectly located - close to town in one direction and very close to the beach and Coastal Path the other way. Couldn't be better.
Breakfast not being included is an absolute bonus - you are provided with a (quiet) fridge, kettle, toaster, tea, coffee, milk, etc, so you can make your own, as and when you want. We loved the natural and uncomplicated approach of Roy and Vickie, and their hospitality throughout our short stay was second to none. Never imposing, but they were always there and willing to help out if you needed anything. Truly professional hosts.
This is a fantastic place to stay in St Ives and we cannot recommend it highly enough! We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Take the room at the front. Neither room is expensive, for what you get, but the front one is worth...
