I stayed at this hotel for one night.
The hotel is ideally situated near the St Ives train station. I recommend you throughly familiarise yourself with a map before you begin your journey into finding it. Be careful of the narrow roads and on-coming traffic if walking there too. If you have heavy luggage I recommend using a taxi. From St Ives train station to walk to the hotel is about 5minutes up hill ( its not too steep) - you go pass the bus station to get there on the hill. ( you may not notice it is a bus station too so watch out for it)
To be fair this hotel is rated TWO stars. I have never stayed at two star accommodation before in England. If you are looking for a touch of luxury/class then I would not recommend you stay here... If you are looking for a hotel with 1960-70's character then this is the place for you.
1. The garden at the front of the hotel is a complete jungle and could do with a bit of combing. This jungle covers the blue sign addressing it as Channings...so be alert for it.
2. Breakfast was average
3. I would grade the housekeeping services a generous 4/10. Carpets needed steam clean. They forgot to put toilet paper in my bathroom
4. I felt a bit cold here...and heating could not be turned on.- blanket was thin as tissue
This is being blunt... this hotel could do with some fresh blood/ ideas/ refurbishment...it has the potential to do better. I slightly aggree with what writer Jennifer has written here.
This was not the hotel for me....however if you are looking for character then it may be for you.
