It's worth starting any review of this Guest House with the phrase "Ron is a character", because that's the abiding memory I'll have from our couple of night stay here! The Rookery is perfectly situated for St. Ives, you can walk anywhere in town within 5 minutes. This important, as St. Ives does not like the car, and parking is at a premium. Thankfully the Rookery provides parking in a numbered space in the station car park below.

The rooms are nicely sized, bathroom is clean, and those rooms on the front of the building look out over the glorious harbour view - albeit with the bus station in the foreground. Breakfasts are excellent, and - hoping you like such - come with off the cuff entertainment from the genial Mr. Rook himself!

The price is pretty good for the area, and it's a lovely town well worth visiting...

We have been going to St Ives for many years,usually two or three times a year, to supplement our main vacation abroad.We had never stayed at the Rookery before, although we have known Ron, the proprieter, to speak to, for some time. We booked in advance for a short,4 night, break and stayed in room no.3.This room has two large windows that look onto the harbour area,and also out to sea.You also look over the bus terminal turning area, so if you are into "people" watching before you go out you've got it made.The room is a good size and the adjoining en-suite is also well proportioned with a large shower.The bed is large and comfortable, and everywhere is spotlessly clean.Ron and Barbara provide a number of options for breakfast;traditional full English along with a number of other options.Ron is quite a character with a good sense of humour,and once everyone has been served with their breakfast, he will appear from the kitchen for some light hearted banter.We enjoyed our stay and will be returning, hopefully,for our winter break in February.If your looking for a top class B&B then you will not find one better than The Rookery.

We stayed last weekend and I have to say it was a perfect choice.

We travelled by train and it took us about 5 minutes from the station to the front door. We had a heavy bag with us, so it must be a shorter walk without.

Our room, number 3, had a fantastic view over the beach, a good shower and a comfortable bed. We had mini cheddars in our room along with the usual biscuits which I found hilarious and really appreciated when I came back from a wedding quite drunk.

You don't get a very long period for breakfast (8.30 - 9) but the quality is fantastic and I challenge you to leave not feeling satisfied.

The service was great too, there was no iron in the room so I asked about getting a shirt done. I left it with them at breakfast and when we came back from the shops it was in my room and ironed perfectly.

Ron is a character as has already been covered by many people, he visits you whilst you eat your breakfast so be aware he will interact with you daily! I don't think I saw Barbara at any point, but was aware she was around.

I can't fault this B+B at all, we both really enjoyed our stay and when we next come back to St Ives I doubt we'll consider going anywhere else.
