After having a disastrous stay at a hotel during my last visit to St. Ives I was determined to research my options carefully and make the right choice. Luckily I did, as this place oozes style and quality.Yes, the website pictures are genuine.
Myself and three family members spent 2 nights here in the busy summer holiday period. Two of us were in room 1 and the others were in room 3.
The rooms were modern, clean, free of clutter and chintz with extremely comfortable beds. Room 1 had a double with shower and bath, with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space.
Breakfast was fantastic - the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were scrummy and the homemade muesli, fruit and home baked bread were enjoyable too.
After exploring during the day we returned to the cosy lounge area where several types of freshly ground coffee and hot chocolate were available from a machine available to guests. There were a few interesting books to browse through too.
The B&B is reasonable walking distance from the train and bus stations, and although it is in a quiet street, is steps away from the hubub of St. Ives itself, and a pleasant stroll to Porthminster and Porthmeor beaches.
The only minor point I can think of was that our room overlooked a small yard/garden area and as we had the windows open with the heat we could hear the odd conversation, so I would perhaps go for a room on the next floor next time.
Would definitely recommend a stay here - it made our short break really enjoyable.
