We arrived by train and stayed three nights in a room with a balcony and so had all the benefits of the location. The sea roared all night which was marvellous- shut the door if you want it quietened! We would have liked a security chain on the sliding door so it could remain open all night and yet be secure (the balcony was shared). The room was fairly small but satisfactory - most importantly, the bed was very comfortable, there was a small but adequate 'wardrobe' space, a working television set, armchair and space for the cases and, of course, the balcony with chairs and a table. The bathroom was tiny, a shower and lavatory in one space with the hand basin outside in an alcove in the bedroom. I chose to think we were given this because of our slenderness...but then again, perhaps not! If you are a reasonable size you will want to make sure that you have more space than this facility allows. We found it snug but fine - and the shower was terrific. We enjoyed the breakfast combination of buffet fruit, toast and muffins etc with a hot meal that could be ordered. We also had dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed the food and service. The bar snacks were also a fine feature. However, it does have to be made clearer when the kitchen closes. We missed out on a hot snack but the dessert menu that was still on offer included a cheese platter that was readily available, generous and very pleasant.
The facilities are generous - seating for the bar near the ocean and inside, similar arrangements for breakfast/restaurant and a comfortable area for guests. We found everything clean and although there are some signs of age we did not find it unattractive.
Most imortantly, the staff were pleasant, well informed and efficient.
We would stay again. Next time I would phone the hotel rather than using an internet site as the cost per room was the same.
Room Tip: Choose a room with the ocean and a balcony. Ask about the bathroom size. However, if you do not mind...
