“What all B n B's should be like”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

On a driving trip with friends (as a substitute for the canceled Portugal excursion due to volcano Eyjafjallajökull) to the southwestern counties of England, we were lucky to stumble upon the Dean Court Bed & Breakfast in St Ives, and what a find this is.
From the smartly and stylish décor, well stocked bar, lovely breakfast, to the extremely well restored and maintained property and accommodations, Dean’s court is top notch in all regards.
Location is great, close enough to town for a short walk, but away from the hub-bub. Beautiful sea views, easy access and parking. Tony & Yvonne couldn’t be more accommodating, warm and inviting.
Highly recommend.

“Worth Staying For the Breakfast Alone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

This was our second visit to Dean Court. On our first visit we stayed in Room 6, which has a wonderful view of St Ives. Unfortunately, due to my husband's bad back, the bed was a bit soft for us so when we emailed Tony to re-book for this year, we asked him to give us a room with the hardest bed. After he had completed his 'bed survey', it was decided that Room 1 had the firmest bed and so we booked for a 3 night stay.

After a warm welcome from Yvonne, we were shown our room which was on the ground floor by the front entrance. Unfortunately, we didn't have a sea view, but the room was spacious and the ensuite had a bath with shower. There was plenty of storage and a sofa under the window. The room was clean and well furnished and above all else, the bed was extremely comfortable. We were a little concerned that we may hear the comings and goings of the other guests being by the front door, but this was never a problem.

The lack of sea view in the room was made up for by the beautiful view we had from our breakfast table. The Dean Court breakfast is excellent. The large selection of fresh fruit to choose from is fantastic - you could fill up on that alone, although we always had the wonderful cooked breakfast as well! (compliments to the chef!) Tony and Yvonne are always on hand to supply fresh coffee and tea and in our case plenty of toast! Tony always gives guests individual attention and brings a smile to everyone's faces. There is always plenty of laughter in the breakfast room.

Many of the other guests were also repeat visitors which is always a good sign of an excellent place to stay - I think this is mainly due to the hosting skills of Tony and Yvonne.

We would definitely return to the Dean Court on our next visit to St Ives. The house is beautiful and the breakfast is amazing, but above all else we really enjoy our holidays there.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a firm bed for bad backs Room 6 has excellent views of St Ives

“We loved it and would definitely go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

We booked late for the August bank holiday and were very pleased to be able to book the Dean Court. It is a wonderful hotel situated in beautiful gardens overlooking the bay. The views are stunning, you can see down to Portminster beach and also across to St Ives Harbour and bay.
Tony and Yvonne were very welcoming, there was a very relaxed and tranquil atmosphere. The decor throughout the hotel is in keeping with its age and of a very high standard. The hotel is the most spotless hotel we have stayed in, not only spotless but so obviously well cared for and loved.
Breakfast is excellent!! You have a choice of a full english or a variety of breakfast combinations, including herring. There is also an extensive selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals. The views from the dining room through the large picture windows are stunning!
Our visit to St Ives was made all the better by staying at Dean Court and Yvonne and Tonys friendliness and attention to detail. We will definitley be back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4, a lovely room with a fantastic sea view.

“Look no further. Honestly, this is where you want to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

Having safely parked our 20mth old son at my mum's, it was time to have our first trip away just as 'a couple'. This place caters for exactly that, and is everything Fawlty Towers could have been if Basil had chosen a different career path, and with a fantastic view of the bay.

Dean Court is a large old house, clearly loved by its owners and kept in pristine condition. It isn't really a hotel, it isn't really a B&B, it is unique and works very well.

Tony really is "a legend" as I read on other posts. Basically the man is mad, but in a great way. Both Tony and Yvonne clearly love their job and are the icing on the cake. Their attention to detail is excellent, we had a little note written on our bill to wish us a good trip, they will no-doubt do something special for you...

Free WiFi, Excellent views, Tony will entertain you at breakfast, Yvonne makes a mean G&T and you can park right in front of the house, walking distance to train.

Tip: Take the sleeper train from Paddington and change onto the connecting branch-line at St Erth to St Ives. If you book the train early it is very cheap and gives you the whole day extra on the beach. Dean Court is a short stroll uphill from the station.

“Perfection!!”

The location is perfect with magnificent views overlooking St Ives and the nearby beaches. I stayed in room 5 and the view of the hotel gardens and ocean continuously took my breath away. It was so lovely to hear the sound of the sea whilst relaxing in my room! The hotel is spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated and Tony and Yvonne cater to your every need. The lounge and bar area are elegantly furnished with magnificent views of St Ives through the large bay windows, and the dining room is beautiful also. As other people have stated the breakfast is divine with a huge selection of fresh fruit and an awesome cooked breakfast to set yourself up for the day. It really is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The coastal paths nearby provide breathtaking walks to Porthminster Beach (around 5 minutes away) and Carbis Bay (around 10 minutes away) and if you are very lucky you may even spot dolphins playing in the sea. Yes it is hilly but the walking was invigorating. The centre of St Ives is around a 15 minute scenic walk, passing Porthminster Beach along the way. As anyone that reads this can probably tell I have fallen in love with Dean Court and St Ives and hope to return again soon. Tony and Yvonne were lovely, even welcoming us on our arrival with a much needed cuppa after a long drive. What more can I say but enjoy:)

Room Tip: Room 5 if you want to go to sleep listening the sound of the ocean.
