I only ever stay in B&Bs because I much prefer them to the soulless, larger hotels and I therefore consider myself something of a B&B connoisseur! So believe me when I say that The Pendennis is exactly what a good B&B should be, but so rarely is.
The location is great, in a quiet, leafy street only a few minutes walk from the town or the seafront, and the building itself is lovely with bags of charm. Inside, everything is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean, with the utmost attention to detail. You can tell the owners have really put a lot of thought into everything, even down to the small things like the yummy biscuits and the decaf coffee, perfect for that late-night cuppa. They want you to really enjoy your stay here and it shows.
Speaking of the owners, Russel & Hazel, they are brilliant! You'll never find more friendly and pleasant hosts, so make time for a good old chin-wag. In fact, they are the best thing about this place and make you feel like part of their family for the duration of your stay. Russell's stories about past guests' odd behaviour are a particular treat whilst your letting the excellent breakfast settle.
I never revisit hotels because, for me, travelling is all about experiencing new things. In this case however, I will definitely break that rule. There's still lots for me to see in the West Penwith area, and that's a great excuse to come back to this gem of B&B.
