“Excellent getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

I stayed at the lynton hotel or lynton house as it is now last month with my partner and two young children of one and three, i had mixed thoughts about staying there as i had seen the reviews on here but i had no need i dont no where these other reviews have come from as they are alot of nonsence.
We stayed saturday to saturday and it was the perfect break and accommadation the best so far and we have been travelling to newquay for 6 years now.
Landlord and landlady were perfech hostesses making us feel just at home from when we first arrived,we were showed to our room with an amazing view of the beach, sea and harbour. We had a family room in which we had a double bed, a single bed and a cot with plenty of room for the amount of time we spent in.
Breakfast was large with bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans, toms and toast whih followed after cereal and orange juice, this was red hot and very tasty :)
The bar was shut but at this time of year and for the guests this hotel prefers this wasnt a problem as the location waas perfect.
It is situted smack bang in the middle of the town within walking distance of the zoo, swimming baths, beachs, harbour and plenty of family pubs.
All in all i highly recommend visiting here prices are reasonable and for the service you receive you can not go wrong. Will definetly be returning here :)

“Makes Faulty Towers Look Good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2009

Hotel difficult to find. Parking a nightmare, website states parking available at front of hotel but this is literally a small driveway and only park here if you enjoy playing "musical cars" Landlady pleasant and friendly on arrival. Rooms were very dated, need much improvement. Ensuite bathroom was tiny, no towel rails, rusty toilet roll holder, two holes in bathroom door. Room windows were filthy, only one small window will open. Room not cleaned/bed made after first night, there were no fresh tea/coffee/milk left for us etc. Website also states bar available, but landlady told us she keeps it locked. Breakfast was ok. After first night there was a problem with our room - landlady didn't seem to want to know and wasn't helpful at all. We needed to be moved to another room but no other rooms were available. There was no offer of ringing around to see if there was any other availability in Newquay or finding a way of accomodating us (by now it was 9.30pm) so we left then with no offer of refund. Do yourself a favour - if you fancy a nice hotel in Newquay then book yourself into the Premier Travel Inn for nearly the same price, fantastic nights sleep, quiet bar restaurant, internet access, rooms absolutely immaculate with all the extras, breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

“No frills and expensive for what you get”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2008

The hotel is on a good seafront location, but a little hard to find. We paid £30 per person per night, and despite being told we would have two en suite rooms only one of our number had an ensuite. It is a little disconcerting to still find hotels with bathrooms down the corridor in the 21st Century, but I guess that's English seaside towns for you! The decor is very tired and the rooms need a makeover- the light above the mirror flickered on and off and you could feel all the springs in the mattress. The shower in the shower room did not work- at least I could not get it to- though fortunately there was a shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was OK, although slightly interrupted by water from the bathroom above dripping on our heads whilst munching on our toast. Staff were very friendly and overall experience was just about acceptable- the place just needs some urgent investment and renovation.

“Overnight Horror”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2008

On Arrival hotel reception seemed ok, until we got took to our rooms, mirrors in hall ways you couldn't see through them. Bedroom Walls are cracked mirrors pictures dirty, toilet seat not on straight. It felt like we had walked into a hotel of horrors, we new it would be the ritz as we only paid £25 a night but when we got to breakfast two peaces of bacon 1 sauage half a tomatoe all luke warm and the toast was rock hard and cold and rims left in cups from previous use.

Would not recommend this hotel to any one, it really needs a good clean and really updating

“The worst ever!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2007

There was not enough parking outside of the hotel, the bar was never opened, breakfast was never served, and the room wasn't clean enough and gets very noisy (doors are too old & squeaky; toilet as well - can hear people taking showers & using the toilet).

Staff was friendly on CHECK IN only, as soon as they got the money they become careless!

If you want to have a nice holiday - find another place. We was very disappointed...

We felt very hurt to receive a review as bad as this one is. We are a traditional, sea front, small, family run hotel and our rooms are personally cared for by ourselves. We have owned the hotel for 8 years and during that time have had some wonderful times with no complaints.
Unfortunately the person concerned refused to vacate their room and were therefore charged for the day. Although this is a standard practice as a result we received this review!!
We do hope that people reading the review will take this into account.
Thank you for taking the time to hear our side of the story. Kindest regards.
