“They need to change more than the name”

We arrived in the middle of the summer season to an empty hotel, and it did not take long to see why. Broken glass doors, dirty rooms and light fitings caked in last seasons dust .Our bath was very clean, however the tiles around it were all broken causing yet another danger. The swimming pool was a delight, (no water) just brambles. With the roadside position and the expansion of the airport this could be a real little gold mine.
However I am sorry to say , this was without a dout the worst hotel we had ever stayed in.

Stayed August 2007

“What windy weekend we had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2007

On a windy weekend (just gone) we arrived wet and wind swept. The lovely owner put the whole group up at a moments notice. The rooms were cleaned and cleared in minutes and a nie hot shower or bath awaited. Yes this hotel is currnetly basic but the owners have big plans to start on 1st July when the smoking ban enters. The biggest positive of this hotel is the personal touch. We had a home style reception and service. The food was lovely pub style food and everything was at a very good price. Even the variety of alcohol behind the bar was vast and superb quality and value. I am planning a group return to the area and am hoping to book out the venue.

Thankyou you made our weekend, Good Luck with it all.

We were due to fly from Newquay Airport with Ryanair who, at the very last minute, cancelled the flight. We were left stranded by this excuse for an airline but thankfully those lovely people at The Airways Hotel made a bad situation bearable. They immediately made a room available, and knowing we had to be up at 6am to catch another flight they made sure we had a breakfast tray and everything we needed to be up and away - no fuss, no drama, no stress... we were fuming Ryanair passengers but the landlady at the Airways Hotel seemed to take all the stress away.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the welcome superb, nothing was too much trouble.
