“Dreadful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2009

Arrived late Sunday evening after a lovely weekend in Falmouth. Should have read the signs and moved on straight away.

Dirty plates on all the tables, had to go through what looked like a store room to get to bedrooms. 3 rooms booked, 1 had a bath no shower, second had a shower, but advised it "might" work, third had damp bedding and was freezing (this was in August).

breakfast was well cooked - but again plates left hanging around long after the people had left the table.

Left after 1 night.

Plates on tables due to Guests arriving during a busy food session in the bar and restaurant, and priority is always given to guest check-in.
2 of our rooms are let as rooms with baths only as per confirmation, not all of our rooms have showers, although the room in question has now had the water pressure upgraded to accommodate the shower. Additional heaters are supplied for guest use, as our recent Summer weather has been cold and wet at times.
Our breakfast is served between 8 and 9.30, however on this occasion our policy was to serve cooked breakfast for late arrivals from the group at 10.15! Also, we do not clear away until all of the guests have vacated the table, which in this case was 11.30, especially when there are heated discussions amongst guests about the plan for the day. We are not responsible for the weather.
We do our best to make our guests comfortable and welcome, however, it is almost a relief if guests leave early when other residents and locals in the bar have complained about loud behaviour. Although it was in the height of the Summer, a refund was issued for the remaining days of the group booking, despite checking out after 1 pm. Our policy of group bookings, including teenagers, has subsequently been reviewed.

“Great Service, lovely people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2008

Having been royally messed around by BA on our flight home, myself, my wife and our 11 month old son were housed for the night in The Smuggler's Inn.
What a lovely place and people. Yes the hotel is currently being refurbished and when its done soon it will be one of the best in the area I am sure.
Our room was clean, well equipped and very welcome after a nightmare with a cancelled flight home. Michelle and her family and staff were welcoming in the extreme, generous and genuine. Michelle's daughter put up a travel cot for Liam and explained all its ins and outs.
The food was good, a decent range, home cooked and Liam enjoyed the cottage pie(me too!!)
We would happily stay here again if we were in the Newquay area. It is literally up the road from the airport so would also be good for business. The locals are really friendly too.
I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the smuggler's inn (formerly the airways) to all and sundry and anyone reading my reviews will know i'm picky!!

“Lovely hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2008

I stayed at the end of last summer and it was lovely, i surf and i was an ideal location for Watergate bay and various other surfer paridises!
It is located directly opposite the airport (no noise though) and each room has a lovely view. The food last year was wonderful, and the young and enthusiastic chef was a pleasure to meet!
I returned last month and it was still up to the top standard, you get so much for you money and a lovely warm welcome.
This is the idea place for a summer break, i will be returning to see Michelle and Andy soon!

  • Liked — The welcome, the food and the beer!
  • Disliked — Having to leave....i didnt want to!

“Great hosts and so handy for the airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2007

Stayed last night (17/10/07) and I have to say that Andy & Michelle are great hosts. They were happy to sit and have drink with customers and were very welcoming. The rooms are good value at £50 for B&B and the airport is literally a stone's throw. It sounds like they have big plans for the place and I wish them all the best. I will certainly go back.

“Friendly and convenient for the Airport”

Good value for money. Very clean, friendly and convenient for the Airport. I had a early flight to catch the next morning and the Airways was just what I was looking for.
