“Simply Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2006

We stayed at the kellsboro in february and as others have commented nothing was to much trouble for the owners even to the point of running us to the bus station so that we could catch our bus to the Eden project as the rain was so bad, although we were about to book a cab. They regularly spent time going through the, not easy to understand, transport timetables with us so that we could maximise our stay and were every day recommending the most interesting places to visit, they know Cornwall like the back of their hands although they are from Essex. We flew down as we do not drive and discoverd with bob and kev's input that even in winter so much is available and accesible I had better stop enthusing but they really did make the difference and were as enthusiastic a we were to make our holiday a success. Oh and I must plug the food --- see you all again VERY soon.

“A very hospitable hotel”

Stayed at this hotel in February 06.
The hotel wasn't busy as it was early in the year, but nevertheless, the owners were eager to help and made us feel very welcome. The room wasn't enormous, but was comfortable and nicely decorated. The indoor swimming pool was wonderful and the bar area was relaxing, actually too relaxing. One thing to beware of - the sea air knocks you for six. We ended up having an afternoon kip for the first two days.

“Worth the long journey”

Just returned back to Scotland after a glorious week spent travelling around Cornwall. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and were very pleased with our choice.

The hosts were extremely friendly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The room was comfortable and the swimming pool was lovely.

The cooked breakfast was superb and set us up for most of the day. In the evenings we ate out and were very impressed by our hosts suggestions of where to eat. The Chinese restaurant was particularly good!

Thanks again to all at the Kellsboro Hotel.

“Thank you for a great day!”

Just a quick note to all at the Kellsboro Hotel to say 'thank you' for helping to make my sons wedding day so special. The room, table and the buffet were all presented beautifully and the service was exceptional. Thank you also to Bob for providing maps for all our guests, I don't think anyone got lost. Anyway, 'Thanks' again and I hope to see you all sometime soon.

“first time for everything...”

this is the first time trip advisor has sent us on a wild goose chase. we have always had great success in the past. we booked the kellsboro based on it's number one rating - oops! this is probably the worst hotel i've ever stayed in - i cannot believe it has 4 stars?!
It was a bitterly cold night - yet we had no heating - the window had been left open and we had 2 acrylic blankets. the room was tiny - the hotel appeared to be empty yet we were shown to the first room past the door - presumably for ease. the breakfast - from 8.30 only for one hour was grim. certainly it had all the elements of a "full english breakfast" but none of the care or quality i'd expect. in fact, a thorough lack of care and quality sums up our whole experience.

This is a small family-run establishment that prides ifself on the quality and care provided to its guests. We have never advertised ourselves as a 4-star hotel, we are an AA 4 diamond rated hotel, there is a difference, not least the tariff. We are often praised and recomended on the quality of our breakfasts.
This couple were shown to the room nearest the staircase for their ease, not ours. As the room had been unused the previous week (it was the first week in February after all) we opened the window to air it prior to their arrival, surely they were capable of closing it! Then the heating would have taken effect. We are sorry that this couples experience was not positive, however, it would have been constructive if they had made their issues known to us in order that we could have dealt with them. Our reputation with the AA is exemplary and our guest comment book is proof of the quality and value for money that we provide.
