We stayed in the guest house for 3 nights and could not of had a better b&b.
The staff were really friendly and very welcoming. The room was slightly on the small side but was good for me and my partner. The rooms were very clean so was the rest of the place.
The location waas perfect a walk to the zoo, beach, town & pubs.
Breakfast was really nice, a full english ... what more could you ask for.
the only downside to the room that we stayed in was the en - suite was to small for the room.
I would recommend this b&b to all of my friends & family.
we look forward to going there next year!
very good holiday overall.

“Fantastiic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2008

Great location and friendly owners. The owners were very accomodating for our parties needs (changing the dining room around to cater for us all to be seated together). We was in the room "out the back" which was small but very comfortable and was decorated to a high standard. Lovely breakfast. For a cheap break away I would definately recommend this and I look forward to returning next year.

“Would recommend to everybody”

We (myself and wife, both early 30's) have just got back from a three night stay at the Holmwood. Where do I start? The owners are very friendly, the rates very good, the rooms very clean and breakfast is great!

The guest house is easy to find and has off road safe parking at the rear for four cars. Dave (the owner) is very welcoming and him and his family have only recently taken over this guesthouse. Don't be put off of by any pictures you see on other sites of outdated bedrooms and dining area, they are gradually re-decorating a room at a time. We stayed in number 6 which was in an extension at the back, this room had been completed and was nicely decorated in neutral colours with complementing extra's. The dining room has also been completed.

Breakfast itself was cereals, juices and a full english with tea coffee and toast. Could not fault the breakfast in any way, big and very tasty!

The location of the guest house itself is great. You are 10 minutes walk form Newquay centre itself, the restaurants and pubs start only 800 yards away but the guest house is tucked away off of a couple of roads so you see and hear no noise at all.
The beaches are also very close, less than 5 minutes walk to the closest.

All in all a great time had. If you've never been to Newquay before all I would say is that there are a lot of students/surfers by day and by night the are probably 6 men to every woman (with lots of stag do's). There were families around so don't be put off!

Also worth noting that Newquay is a great place as a base to visit St.Ives, Lands End etc.

Would definitely go back to Newquay and certainly stay at the Holmwood.

“Great little B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2008

Stayed here for three nights over the May Day Bank holiday weekend. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated whilst the ensuite bathroom was spotless. The breakfast was fab - full works everday - cereal, toast, juices and full English Breakfast - good job they don't weigh you at the Airport on the way back. Ha ha. The hosts Dave and Kim were really friendly and full of good advice on places to visit, events to see and restaurants to try. The B&B is a two minute walk to the Great Western Beach, make sure you're on the headland at Sunset for some stunning views, and is really handy for two or three good restaurants and some relaxed bars. We tried the Mexican Cantina, the La Luna Italian and the Maharajah indian and they were all very good. All are within 5 mins walk. The centre of Newquay itself is another ten mins walk further on - however the centre can get a bit boisterous at the weekend so we were glad to be up at the Holmwood. All in all a fab B&B.

“A good surprise”

After having searched many other B&Bs in Newquay -all of them were full- we finally booked with Holmwood Guest House. We did not expect much from it and were rather pleasantly surprised because of the good standing of the place.
Our room was very small (twin room on last floor), but as we only stayed one night, it was fine. It was clean and the bathroom had been recently renovated so it had everything functional and in good working order. The breakfast was correct and our host has been very kind and helpful. We had an off-street parking space (there are only 2) but there was plenty parking available on the street.
The location was convenient because it was on a quiet street, close to the beach, restaurants and the railway station (but not close enough to hear the trains) and at walking distance from the city centre.
After all, we were satisfied with our stay.
