Gill and Martin really do a great job, from the word go you feel like your at home especially with the offer of a cup tea.
Polraen is in an amazing location with Looe only a short train ride away. The rooms are amazing, the breakfast is to die for and the service is incredible. Everything about this place is incredible and I really would recommend staying here, I can honestly say you wont be disappointed.
Its definetly worth a trip here for the New Year, the street party with the fancy dress is definetly a sight not to be missed.

We had a great stay at Polraen Country House Hotel. The room was lovely, and the welcome warm. Gill & Martin were very helpful and a font of knowledge for the area. It was nice to see the single carriage trains passing by, and to be able to use them from the little station just up the road from the hotel. We traveled to and from Looe, Liskard and Truro using the train, it was convenient and lots of fun. The location was good, either for just relaxing by making the short trip down into Looe, or to travel a little further a field in this part of Cornwall.

We stayed at Polraen together with our boys (13, 11) and we felt like being at home. Gill and Martin were excellent hosts who took care and gave valuable hints what to do and where to go. We also liked the english breakfast with Martin´s special mushrooms. Our sons were taken serious despite the fact that they were still young with limited knowledge of English language. Gill even tried to remember her rusted German language education.
The house is beautiful and very welcoming.
Back home our boys declared that they would like to return again for another holiday and we simply agree.

Never normally write a review after visiting a hotel yet I always read Tripadviser before booking holiday venues. Had to for the Polraen. Gill, Martin and their family were warm, attentive and fabulous during our stay. We chose the hotel because it was on the'flat'(for Grandad), had carparking and a garden space(for 2yr old Tia).Best breakies ever, situated on great transport links(bus stops outside and train 3mins walk away). It's boring to say as previous visitors have said it; I can't recommend this hotel enough for all ages!
