You walk into Hawthorne Dene Hotel, an old Victorian house.... and you're hit with old Victorian... mixed with 70's and 80's decor. It is a shrine to colonial times with military memorabilia and heavy mahogany furnishings. Was expecting to see an old retired major, with handle-bar moustache sitting around.
Bedroom big and bathroom nice and clean but hated the two creepy teddy bears in the room. The bed is soft and dreamy - loved it, with lovely clean sheets. The place is old and tired, a little steep in price for what you get. Yet is 5 min walk down the road and you are near the water. Did not feel welcomed in this establishment and the manageress was very abrupt. Maybe a bad week. Maybe she didn't know people from Northern Ireland took holidays. Falmouth a lovely town and will be very happy to see it again.
