“Poor client attention”

Arrived for one night having driven from London and returning the next day - asked for a quiet room to ensure not being too tired on the drive back (12 hours in 2 days is tiring) and was given a room next to the housemaids office and on the stairwell, so not protection from any noise so didn't sleep too well. Two course dinner for 3 £120, though good food, having had such a rubbish night's sleep, I now wish we had booked The Cove and spent our money there. Overall, an OK hotel, good enough rooms, reception not the best and was over-charged at checkout!

We always aim to meet and ideally exceed guests’ expectation of their stay with us; I’m so sorry that we fell short on this occasion.
I am pleased that you found the food to be good. You may be interested in attending the Oyster Festival during October. Our Head Chef Nick and Arty, the Chef owner of The Cove are great friends, and always have an entertaining competition during the Oyster Festival at Events Square.
Please do contact our reservations manager, Clare Goodchild; should you decide to attend. Clare will be happy to ensure that the correct room type for your requirements is provided.
Thank you for your review, comments positive and indeed negative are always well received.

“Got Free Upgrade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

As leisure complex was closed for refurb, received a free upgrade to sea view room. Great location next to Killy beach, tropical gardens. Excellent restaurant with fine food . service generally excellent.

A short, but sweet review that says all it needs to.
We had to action essential maintenance to the health club, to keep up the good standard of fittings and equipment; I’m pleased to advise that this is all now complete, and we are open as usual.
As far as I was aware, all guests were contacted regarding the closure, I’m so sorry that this was not the case for your reservation; I am however pleased that your room upgrade made up for this.
Thank you again for taking the time to review St Michaels.

“Perfect for pampering your partner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I treated my partner to a long weekend as it was her birthday. We were impressed with everything about the hotel, although we did not eat in the restaurant as we were out most days. We did have room service one evening, which was very good. As it is a long journey getting to this part of Cornwall - from almost anywhere - a good hotel at the end is a must - and this is a very good hotel. Thoroughly enjoyable and will almost certainly return one day.

“Not for business travellers”

Excellent hotel with great facilities but appalling IT infrastructure. On both occasions I have stayed there have been huge problems with Wi Fi. On the second occasion I had rung prior to booking as being able to access the internet is essential for me and was told that it would definitely not be a problem as the IT issues had been resolved since my previous visit. Wi Fi was not working virtually on arrival and staff attitude was dismissive at best. It is a shame as a great hotel otherwise.

I completely see you point of view regarding wifi, it is imperative for myself when travelling.
In honesty we have had an issue with wifi, but intermittent; I.e. working for so long, then just dropping off for no reason that we can fathom; we think we have now got to the bottom of this, and by the end of this month a new system should be in place.
The issue however, has not affected our business area computers; internet is always available from these, at no extra charge.
We do hope that you will return to St Michaels in the future.

“The perfect place to feel pampered and special!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My daughter and I stayed at St Michaels for a well earned break. We work as beauty and massage therapists, so decided to take advantage of the 2 night January Spa deal to sample what it feels like being on the recieving end. I must say that we were very impressed with the deal and thought it was fantastic value for money. The room had a sea view and was clean bright and well equipped. The beds were incredibily comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing in fluffy robes and slippers that were provided. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the spa therapists and treatments, they were amazing!! They are due for some upgrades next week in and around the spa and pool area, but it still looked clean and not at all shabby.
The evening meals at the Flying Fish were absolutley delicious, served by polite waitresses that were more than happy to engage in a quick chat. They also helped us choose the best deserts!! Breakfast is lovely too, with a good selection of locally sourced produce and cooked food.
The only minor thing, just to be super critical was that I had a few problems with connecting my laptop with their WiFi in our room for the 1st day & evening, but after giving me some advice, I managed to connect the next day. Our stay was really enjoyable and we cant wait to come again in the summer for a spa day with a bunch of girlie friends. Highly recommeded!!

Room Tip: ask for the superior room with sea view
