“Rude owner and cold room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I booked this hotel via a booking website, and was asked to give an estimnated time of arrival "for guidance purposes only." I put this down as 10pm, but was delayed and arrived at 10.40pm. The hotel was locked up and I had to ring the bell several times for admittance. When the owner appeared he said very aggressively that he had been expecting me "quite some time ago...a phone call is all it takes." I apologised profusely, explaining I had been delayed. Despite apologising, he told me several more times that I should have rung. He then threw the registration card across the desk at me, and told me the breakfast hours. I told him I would not be in for breakfast, and he again reacted aggressively asking me why not. Quite frankly why I was not in for breakfast was none of his business.
I was taken upto my room, which turned out to be freezing cold. I slept in bedsocks, and a hooded jumper all night. There was a tap dripping in the bathroom as as their is no door between the bedroom and bathroom it made it quite difficult to sleep. There was also a damp patch on the bathroom floor. To be honest, I would have overlooked the problems with the room had the owner not been so rude.
I was debating wether or not to write this review, but the final straw was finding a message on my hpone left at 10.13pm asking where I was. In a service industry, you should not be leaving your guetss rude messages when you just 13 minutes late than an arrival time for GUIDANCE purposes only. Steer clear!

“It's ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011 via mobile

A warm welcome, went to the room and it was cold, room tidy and clean. Woke up in morning room was freezing, even though on their websit it said manual control for heating. Shower was rubbish, either it was too hot or too cold nothing in the middle. Breakfast was brilliant. Overall it was ok.

“unfriendly and rude”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

My mother (aged 77) and I were booked into a twin room for 2 nights. We were put in a room up 2 flights of narrow stairs and into a room in an attic. It was very basic and the paper was coming away from the wall. In the bathroom the carpet was stained and the paint was falling off the woodwork over the bath. There was a jug to enable you to wash your hair as there was no shower. The owner was very rude, arrogant and very unfriendly.
I would not recommend this hotel.

“Clare's Caribbean Birthday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2011

Booked the Broadmead in Feb this year as its 5 minutes from the Rugby Ground. I was a bit worried about some of the reviews but on arrival met the Owner who was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable, the O/S bathroom soaps and bubble bath made it that much more special. We went out to the party almost immediately so didn't see much more but of note is breakfast! Wow, the choice meets that offered by the best hotels but cooked far far better with local quality ingredients. We really enjoyed our stay and will use the Broadmead again. Thank you for making our stay special.

“Excellent and very comfortable stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Spent two nights on a short semi business/leisure trip. I found the hotel totally filled my needs, and was made very welcome by a friendly and considerate owner, my room was very well fitted out, and the breakfast could not be faulted.
I hope to visit another time.
