Well, we arrived at the hotel after much difficulty trying to find it, however, we phoned the owners and got a new postcode to take us straight into the car park. Location is fantastic, you are literally on the city walls and around 5 minutes away from the main streets of Chester. We checked into our nice room on the top floor. It was full of character from the four poster bed to the slanted floor boards and low beams. The bed was really comfortable and the view from our window was excellent. We spent half an hour watching the boats and canoes go up and down the river. The room was £90 a night, which I thought was quite steep for the size of the room, when compared to the hotel we stayed in York, which was only £75 a night. However, breakfast was nice and fresh, with plenty of toast and cereals. You have free roam of the hotel which is good as we wanted to have a little bit of a late night on the Saturday. Must recommend the American diner on the corner, ate there on the Saturday and food was very cheap and fresh. Also, if you plan on eating out in Chester, be sure to make a booking as it can be very busy! The old pubs of chester were full of character and history, the whole city is beautiful and friendly. The city walls walk is a must, we did this in about 45 minutes and gave us a great perspective on the city, with a handful of history thrown in for good measure. Overall, had a good stay at the hotel but next time we are in Chester we will probably stay elsewhere as we believe the price for the room we got was a little steep. Still a lovely place with great hosts!
