“Weekend with friends”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

While it did not deter us from enjoying our weekend, I was quite disappointed with the rooms. We spent 2 nights there but our room didn't get serviced at all although we did get clean towels when we happened to bump into the housekeeper on the landing. The bed wasn't made, bins weren't emptied and the cups were not changed and no cleaning done. I am sure if we had asked, then there wouldln't have been a problem but you expect this service without asking! However, the staff were very friendly, lovely breakfast although I thought it was a bit early to stop serving at 9 am on a weekend, and we had a good meal on the Friday night.

“Nice old pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This is a lovely old Pub. I was speaking with the brew master at the bar and he gave my wife and I a tour of the brewing area. They have some really nice ales, it's just to bad I didn't have time to try them all.

“Great ambience, very attentive staff but sadly no ghosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We had previously ate & drank at the Pied Bull and found the staff very welcoming serving excellent food. With the added attraction of maybe seeing one of the resident ghosts we, along with our dear friends from Australia, decided to stay at there. From the point of making the booking, to arriving at the Pied Bull and whilst we were their nothing (and I mean nothing) was too much trouble for any of the staff. Special thanks must go to Vikki, Lauren and Dave but it goes without saying a big 'thank you' to those whose names we did not get.

Parking is limited but we were kindly directed to a parking area where were allowed to park free for the duration.

The tariff of £75 for a double/twin room is very good - same may quibble at this price and yes the room I would best describe as a functional yet clean room with a very comfy bed but the breakfast was piping hot and of the highest quality. Add to the fact that you are within the walled city you cannot fault the Pied Bull.

The Pied Bull has recently won the CAMRA 2012 award and with it now having a micro brewery (which Dave was very proud to show us) it will continue to draw in customers wanting excellent food and drink.

The only thing that disappointed us was that we did not see either of the resident ghosts - good excuse to go back to the Pied Bull.

Would I go back to the Pied Bull - without hesitation :)

“Very good service and prime location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Pre booking a car park space was a must for us and having been in the Pied Bull before for a drink gave us a good perception of its location in relation to all the sites and was the main reason for the stay. The welcome was friendly and the staff were very helpful and informative.Food was tasty and the real ales a must to try. The room was clean and tidy and met our requirements and the overall stay was great. We will be staying here again.

Room Tip: Go for rooms on the top floor for a quiter stay.
