“Great Choice for Chester”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Good Holiday Inn Express which, according to the notice in reception, is operated by the racecourse as a franchise. Located on the edge of the centre of Chester and it is certainly possible to walk into town.
Rooms are clean and functional. Bathrooms contain only a shower with no baths as per other HI Expresses.
The HI Express continental breakfast has expanded is recent years and now includes several hot items.
Parking is free in the Racecourse car park. When arriving, they should have your details and will wave you in.
There was a party going on in the room next door to us during one evening and my wife had to contact reception serveral times. The receptionist did attend and ask for the volume to be turned down and at 11pm they left for a night on the town. We had our revenge in the morning!
You can get a 10-20% discount at the 1539 restaurant over in the racecourse. we took the offer up and were not disappointed with the food. It is only a five minute walk to the restaurant, but on a dark and stormy night it can be a bit of a slog! There is a lift up to the restaurant when you arrive, but it was dark and empty when navigating the racecourse grounds with several gates shut. We will know for next time!
Other dining options include the Watergate Inn, which we did not try and the Fat Cat chain pub/restaurant which has good offers on. Both of these were on the street when heading into town.
Overall great choice for Chester with maybe the only central hotel with free parking?

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review the Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse.

I am thrilled to read any review especially when it is positive. Your comments will be passed onto the team who I am sure will be thrilled.

I am keen to use all reviews as a tool to enhance what the Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse has to offer, making the relevant changes whilst keeping the things our guests love.

Unfortunately the Express brand mainly only supply showers as this differentiates us with the Holiday Inn brand.

I am glad you enjoyed our breakfast and as hoteliers we are keen to enhance this further and are continuously pushing this forward with our head office, hopefully one day we will be able to offer more hot options.

I am sorry to hear that you experienced problems with noise next door and can assure you that we do not accept this sort of behaviour and this should have been dealt with straight away and not on the seventh visit to the room. I have provided the relevant training to the night’s team to ensure that this problem is rectified sooner in the future.

I have also passed on your comments regarding 1539 and the problems you had navigating your way to the restaurant as I am sure they will find this useful.

Once again thank you for your kind comments they really are appreciated.

Should you need accommodation in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind Regards

“Warmest hotel in town!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Stay here with confidence, bargain prices and great simple, clean rooms with flat screen TV and power showers. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hot and cold drinks in the lobby are complimentary, though obviuosly included in the price. The breakfast is great ignore the moans and groans from other reviews you get fresh Orange, Apple juices, chilled water, milk, choice of four cereals, huge mixed fruit bowls, yogurts, several styles of Coffee and Tea and as much scrambled eggs and sausage as you can eat with beans, cheese, Toast, white and brown, marmalade, jam etc if you want it. The only complaint, if it is one, is the place is so warm, nearly all the patrons were sweating profusely, they really like to keep you snug here for sure!!!!! They did turn the heat down, with a smile when asked! Book here without worry, its right on the racecourse and only a five minute walk to the start of the town centre shops.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse.

I am thrilled to read you kind comments, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay.

You comments will be passed onto the team who I am sure will also be delighted.

I use each review to ensure we keep the things our guests love whilst making the relevant changes.

Our breakfast has developed over the years and at the Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse we feel it is important to use fresh local products and are keen to develop it further. We are however limited to what we are able to offer due to brand standards. Hopefully one day we will be able to offer more hot options.

Your review will help many bookers and I would like to thank you for your kind comments.

I hope I am able to welcome you to Chester again soon.

Should you need any accommodation in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

“No complaints”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Booked the day before on Holiday Inn website and got a double room for £39 including breakfast. The room on the second floor was small but quiet and very clean and had a large flat screen TV, a hairdrier and Tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom had an excellent power shower and plenty of hot water. There was also plenty of power points to plug in mobiles etc.. The car park belongs to the racecourse and was full when we first arrived but we found a space without too much of a wait. The staff were friendly and efficient and the location could not be much better. We have previously stayed out of town when visiting Chester, and paid a lot more, plus the additional cost of Taxi fares so we were very happy with all aspects of our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and would definitely stay there again.

Dear Guest

Thank you for reviewing the Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse.

I really do appreciate the positive comments and I am delighted to read you will definitely return to the hotel.

Our hotel rooms are all the same size however we do have 2 larger rooms which we usually allocate to long stays or families. Should you need accommodation in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly and i will do my very best to ensure you are allocated one of these rooms.

I am sorry you were unable to find a car parking space when you first arrived, the car park is used as a public car park throughout the day however the car park is for hotel guest's and your comment have been passed to the car park attendant.

Once again thank you for your comments, I hope I am able to welcome you to Chester again soon.

“Good Value Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

The Holiday Inn Express Chester is in a perfect position for the town centre and the car park is free and has lots of spaces.

The rooms are modern very clean and are well equipped. I was very pleased to find that breakfast too was included in the price of the room. There was a good choice of continental, cerials, sausage, scrambled egg and beans, fruit toast etc.

My only issue was that in my room 321 there was a constant droning noise, it seemed to be coming from room 319 as the walls seemed to be resonating.

I went and asked in reception and they said it was probably the generator. By the time I returned to my room they had switched the generator off and my room was silent.

The staff were very efficient and I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return to the hotel.

I think the main thing to remember is that if you have a problem talk to the staff and they will resolve the issue. Don't keep silent and then place a bad review on Trip Advisor.

Dear Guest

Thank you for reviewing you recent stay with us at The Holiday Inn Express Chester Racecourse.

I am delighted to find you enjoyed your stay, I keen to use each review whether this is positive or constructive and use it as a tool to improve the hotels services and facilities whilst also ensuring we keep the things our guests love.

I am sorry for the noise issue you had in 321 and I am glad that the problem was rectified straight away. This is actually caused by the air conditioning unit used to heat and cool the public areas. We have now put in a time slot where this can be used to ensure this will not affect any future guests. We thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As a hotelier I really appreciate your comments regarding letting staff know, as you know if there are any problems with your room, facilities or services a lot of the time these can easily rectified.

Should you need accommodation in the future please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind Regards

“perfect position”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Fab hotel, perfectly placed for shopping, 5-10mins walk up the hill, and you are in the centre of chester. Cant complain about anything really, you can have as much coffee, tea, hot chocolates as you wish all free of charge. The breakfast, consists of fresh fruit salad, choice of cereals, crossaints, toast, sausage, bean and scrambled egg, and fresh furit juice, excellent value for money. Would def use this hotel again. We came on a girly shopping weekend, so it was perfect for our needs, I didnt notice any children in this hotel, just mainly groups.

Room Tip: The shops are up the hill, and the pavements are uneven, so ladies wear your flats not your heels, e...
