We stayed on a 2-night break, courtesy of our Tesco Vouchers. Easy to book, and thanks to previous reviews on here, we booked a room at the rear of the Hotel, to avoid the street noise, mainly emanating from the Red Door nightclub (more of this place later). Unless you sleep very well indeed, I would recommend a rear Room.
The twin room was more than adequate for our needs, and requests for extra pillows were promptly dealt with.
The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice.
We had pre-booked an evening meal on the second evening, and were not disappointed with the food, which was of very good quality. Can't believe I got stung by the old chestnut of ordering bottled water (at £4.95 a bottle), so I would have tap water next time. Nevertheless, the evening meal was most enjoyable, and cost me £15 pp, which gave an allowance of £25pp off the Menu.
Despite having a rear Room, it was still possible to hear the 120-140bpm emanating from the night club on the Saturday evening, up until 2am. However, the fact that everything else on this stay was really good, I wouldn't go overboard about this - just to let you know what to expect.
The location is superb, just yards from the shops. My football team played at Chester FC, and won, so that was nice! (Hednesford Town, if you are bothered, which I know you probably aren't!).
When checking out, they presented me with a Bill of around £140, which I had to prove was wrong, by showing them my original confirmation from Macdonald Central Booking. As it was over £80 difference, you may wish to note this, if you are staying courtesy of Tesco, and take your confirmation with you as well.
Finally, the Grosvenor Shopping Centre car-park is nearby. You do NOT have to get your car-park ticket validated at the Hotel. Just present it into the machine at the Pay Station, and you can pay for 2 days stay, either by cash or card. (£10 per 24 hours).
A most enjoyable stay.
