When we arrived, the room had obviously not been cleaned properly, there were trails of fluff, dust and hairs on the carpet and the bathroom was in a similar state. In fairness to the lady on reception, we reported it and she promptly apologised and cleaned it herself, making an excellent job of vacuuming the carpet and improved things in the bathroom. It was still disappointing to see discarded soap from a previous occupant in the shower - surely this should be removed after each visitor?
Our general impression of both this room and the one occupied by other family members during our visit is that the rooms look neglected, shabby and in need of some TLC. Although it's a budget hotel, after a room has been cleaned, dirty finger marks on many surfaces and excessive mould around the shower are not acceptable. The saving grace are the staff we came into contact with: the lady at reception, who incidently gave us a bottle of wine by way of an apology and the ladies who served breakfast, couldn't have been more efficient and helpful.
I was very surprised to see positive comments in the visitors book, so maybe our experience was unusual, but we wouldn't stay again.
