The hotel is beautiful, it is well designed and there is a definite feeling of luxury throughout.
My room was in the Kings Quarters which is a little walk through the corridors but it was nice as I got to see where the bar and restaurants were along the way. The only problem with the Kings Quarters is that there is only 1 lift covering so many floors max of 4 people including luggage. Once I arrived at my room though I could not have been happier, it was spotlessly clean and the feeling of luxury continued in all the fixtures and fittings. Beautiful bathroom with seperate bath and shower and the biggest bed I have ever slept in.
I should have had a bottle of wine in my room on arrival which had been overlooked but a quick call to reception easily rectified this.
Nearly all the staff were very friendly throughout and always greeted you in the corridors etc, all except the Restaurant Manager in the Grill restuarant where I went for breakfast. As a single female he made me feel very unwelcome and I almost felt like he spoke to me with contempt as I came down around 10.40 when breakfast finishes at 11. Maybe he was just having a bad day?
The reception staff were lovely, the door man was very friendly, the housekeeping staff suprised me with their cheery demeanors on a Sunday morning, a young man from housekeeping even offered to carry my bag down the stairs whilst I was waiting for the lift on check out.
The young lady in the secret spa gave me the best massage Ive had for a long time and I couldnt thank her enough for removing some knots.
All in all a wonderful stay and the majority of the staff are a credit to the hotel, I left feeling happy and relaxed.
