We were lucky enough to stay at Carden Park for 3 nights over New Year. There were 4 of us in 2 rooms. We were all out in the courtyard and the rooms were large and well furnished with easily controlled heating. The views over the grounds are spectacular. The staff were wonderful, friendly and happy! We had been in September and the Duty Managerr emembered us which was nice. New Years Eve was fantastic - the Carden Suite was beautifully decorated, staff were friendly and efficient and the food was out of this world. If anything let it down the group were possibly the weakest link. We had breakfast and dinner in Redmonds for the rest of our stay and the food was of the same high quality. I had 2 Spa treatments and my husband had one as well. The Spa and Leisure Club are of a very high standard. However the complimentary bathrobes are maybe best suited to a size 12 or below and you have to walk back through Spa reception to get to the treatment area. This is a relaxing and tranquil space and the whole experience was well worth the money. The swimming pool, sauna, aromatherapy room and jacuzzi were well used by our group, the ice cold bucket experience less so! However some parents seem to think it is acceptable to take boys aged 8-10 into the ladies changing room to get changed. These are communal rooms with only 1 cubicle enclosed by a curtain. It left me and other ladies feeling uncomfortable and we were stood clutching our towels around us, as we had been in the showers, until the boys had changed. I appreciate it would be very hard for the hotel to police this as all guests go through the same door to the changing rooms. ~Morgans Bar was also well used by our group and the staff were unfailingly polite and efficient even when run off their feet. It seemed that every guest in the hotel was in there one afternoon!
This was our 3rd or 4th New Year at Carden Park and we will definately be back.
