I have stayed in many Travelodges on my travels and yet this is the one which I always seem to have problems in. On arrival there was a problem with with my booking, I was told that I was not in the system as I had booked too early,I'm glad I'd printed off my reservation for evidence. After lots of typing and questions to a supervisor, I was given the key to the room. As I had booked for 2 nights I asked if I was able to have the key programmed for both nights, as previously I had stayed for longer and had to get it updated every day which was a big inconvenience, as staff are often in other parts of the hotel doing other duties. I was assured that this was programmed for the 2 nights.
When I got to the room, it was very cold, the heater was hardly working, and the room's light was flickering like the sign of The Bates Motel in the film Psycho!! Thankfully the hot water was working.
As planned, I was out all day on Saturday and returned at 1am on the Sunday morning. When I got to the door, the allegedly programmed key did not work so I had to wait for the receptionist to come and open the door, then I had to go through the whole check in process again even though I had all of my things in the room and I was ready to fall into bed. This problem only ever seems to happen in this Travelodge, and although I have told them about it, nothing is ever done to resolve the problem.
On a plus side, the cleaning staff were very friendly, after the first night I had run out of milks for drinks so they topped me up when I asked them for more, and I was able to get rid of my litter and used towels rather than have them lying around in the room until later in the day.
The hotel has an excellent location, but the room was poor this visit, and the checking in system is highly annoying.
