Nice rooms, helpful staff. Dinner was a bit overpriced and under delivered.
We visited as part of our honeymoon trip through England and France, and this place was the highlight of our trip. Impressive property, beautiful spacious room, Paul and Kathy were the ultimate hosts, the maitre d'hotel and the staff were the best... we would have stayed longer if we knew how great it was. Very relaxing trip, ultimate place to enjoy a break and your travel companions. Well worth the money, the room price included breakfast and dinner and really was worth it (every dinner meal was impressive). We were the only americans there at the time, and a bit younger than most guests, but still enjoyed talking to everyone and making friends while there. We plan on going back in the future!
Myself , My Husband and some friends travelled over to Sark for a Weekend to stay at the Beautiful Stocks Hotel. We were welcomed by Paul and Cathy who kindly checked us in to our rooms , we were all very excited as Stocks Hotel has just finished an 18 month transformation so we could not wait to see what it was like as we had heard so many good reports about it.
We all checked into our rooms and were wowed as soon as we walked through the door. They were all so tastefully decorated along with fully tiled shower rooms/bathrooms such a difference to the old Stocks when I last stayed had a shower curtain around the corner shower cubicle so indeed it has come along way. We went to have a drink in the bar and that was lovely and cosy with the wood burner lit and it has its own little snug, they have a kitchen where they offer cookery classes along with early dining for the children.
They have a brand new outdoor pool with a Jacuzzi and beautiful grounds. We dined in the restaurant and had a 7 course meal which was beautifully presented and tased absolutely wonderful and Duarte and his delightful staff could not do enough for us. We asked if we could have our coffee in the lounge where another fire was lit with a lovely christmas tree all decorated in the big bay window. There was no TV in the lounge so it was really nice to talk and play silly games and make our own fun without being glued to the TV.
We eventually all went to bed and had agreed to meet each other for breakfast at 0930 in the morning, the bed was so comfortable and the room was so peaceful that we fell asleep pretty quickly. We all met for breakfast and the choice and food was exceptional.
Cathy kindly showed us the wine cellar which was made out of an underground tunnel that has been there since before the war so that was a nice little feature and they also have their own little herb garden, they have a Gym and a little gift shop.
All in all we cannot wait to go back to stay at Stocks it is a mixture of contempary with old and that works perfectly for us as you have the little nooks and crannies and traditional fixtures along with fresh bright bedrooms and bathrooms and flat screen TV's and Wi-fi access.
Well done Stocks that is exactly what Sark needed to have a beautiful upmarket Hotel in a beautiful setting and Thank You for a wonderfull weekend we cannot wait to come back next year
Stocks Hotel as been transformed. The Hotel still has its character and is a gem.
We stayed there in October and had a great stay. Paul and his staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are now modern with all the facilities and comfortable and peaceful.
The evening meal was excellent and the restaurant was full. Breakfast was great and somehow we also managed Sunday lunch. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent hotel.
It was worth the wait ! The newly refurbished Stocks hotel is stunning. A true country manor with a modern edge. The staff were all professional but very friendly and welcoming too.
Our bedroom was very comfortable with tasteful soft furnishings, and a small boxroom, cleverly built around a large window, to give light and space, containing bunk beds for younger family members.
The newly laid stonework is very atmospheric and the refurbished lounges charming.
The food and wine were delicious too. Half board excellent value as both breakfast and dinner were of a very good quality.
A wonderful short break.
