I had not looked at the previous reviews prior to my stay, but just as I was writing this, I noticed the previous review by martinet7. My comments pretty much mirror the previous reviewer.
Room: The room was large, clean and had modern decor with a flat panel TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfy as well. The downside was the en-suite bathroom that has really seen much better days. The toilet seat was loose, the grout was dis-coloured from age and there was exposed pipe work and loose panelling near the toilet and bath. It generally looked like it needed a bit of a good clean as well really. There were also hand marks on the bathroom door as well, it was just not nice. The door catch on the outside of the room door was also broken, so you had to close the door using a small hook that was in the middle on the f the door? or try and slam it closed. Equally the door lock on the inside looked like it was not very secure.
The bathroom had two bath towels on arrival and in the morning I had used one and left it in the bathroom to dry out over the shower screen, but assuming it may be replaced. On my return, the towel had been taken, but not replaced. Why not just leave it or replace it?
It seemed like the room had had a revamp, but the bathroom had been missed and some smaller attention to detail items had also been missed.
Restaurant: I thought the main courses were very reasonable and the steak I had was fine. The starter was a bit overpriced, but relative to other restaurants know a days. The restaurant/bar area was pleasant and the service prompt and efficient. No issues there and would eat there again.
Staff: As per a previous comment, the gentleman that I assumed is one of, or, the manager was very pleasant and welcoming. On check out by a young female member of staff, it was a slightly different story. Not rude, but not very personable either.
Parking: This is a little limited, but I managed to find a slot during the period of my stay.
Cost: at £99 per night, I must say that I have stayed at better for the money considering the condition of the bathroom. Perhaps I got unlucky with the room though?
The usual question I ask myself is would I stay again. The poor condition of the bathroom put me off so I think I would look around for other options.
Room Tip: Inquire about the age of the bathroom ?
