We booked the library and adjoining private dining room for 19 people for my daughter's 21st birthday dinner. All of the staff that we deat with were excellent and the meal was very good. The library was lit with tea lights and looked beautiful and we were welll looked after. Expensive but worth it.

As a student I'd walked past the beautiful Hotel du Vin, but didn't realise how lovely it was inside. I stayed in October in the Schloss Gobelsburg room, which was incredible - huge double bed, lovely roll-top bath, and plenty of space and storage. The rooms was very cosy, and the staff helpful and accommodating. It's not cheap, but worth every penny.

I stayed at the hotel du vin for one night during the week in January 2012.

I had booked a double room, which was clean, well decorated, comfortable king size bed, nice big bathroom and an expresso maker!

The location is perfect for Cambridge. Kings College is only a 2 minute walk away and into the hussle and bussle of central Cambridge.

The hotel is 1 minute walk away from lovely food places like Browns and Loch Fyne. The hotel has an excellent dinning facility with a very posh restaurant with an excellent choice of wines and food.

Downstairs it has a very atmospheric bar with loads of comfortable chairs, sofas. The bar staff were very knowledgeable on Whiskies, Rums and all their alcoholic repertoire. I spent an hour going thru their rum and whisky selection with the most friendly and knowledgeable bar man.

They also have a highly desirable cigar selection and have a heated smoking facility out doors.

Overall, a great experience from the staff and facilities. Note, this will be to pricey for the budget traveler.

If I can, I would actually give it 3.5 stars because I liked the hotel itself. The hotel is very nice overall and has that British charm. I stayed at the room that had the open bath, and I liked the room's layout and decor. The nespresso machine in the room makes it more special. But for the price it charged, the quality of their service is not on par.

What I was not impressed with was the service. I had forgotten to bring an adapter from the US, and I was very surprised by their response that they have no adapters for guests (the 50GBP place I stayed at the night before, also in Cambridge, had several for me to choose from). The staff simply told me that I could go to the stores to buy one. They also did not seem keen to provide me maps or anything. Overall impression - I would not want to talk to their front desk staff unless I have to. For the price they charged, this is not very acceptable.

I also had food from their restaurant, which is unfortunately very average.

They definitely need to work on training their staff better.
