“Very Poor Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

A Monday night stay with 4 work colleagues on business saw us enter the near empty restaurant at around 840pm. The main course took 40 minutes to arrive and amusingly (as there was now no one left in the restaurant) four desserts took around 25 minutes to arrive. The mains were small and were very poor value for money. I had the pork char sui - more like pork hard luck, as it was border line vegetarian - and for the £13 plus it was scandalous. Five pounds an hour for the internet is off the pace of competitors and I suggest Holiday Inn wake up and smell the coffee....which takes me to the breakfast - which was fine....a basic buffet, no real frills or noteworthy points for travellers who choose to pay over the odds for this hotel with small bedrooms, rough 1950's towels, but a decent large LG HD flat screen (credit where its due). Just after I checked out, a manager gave a guy on reception a dressing down in ear shot of numerous guests - I heard him say 'it costs the Company money'......well they made need plenty of cash to pay the overheads as turnover surely cannot be growing

“Close to M 40 Junction 4”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Holiday Inn is right next to the M40 motorway junction 4, is ideal if your are going to London Heathrow or to the south of London. The very busy section around the junction of the M40 and the M 25 can be very simple missed by diverting via the M4.

I have now used the hotel on five time in the last twelve months and each time found it very welcoming.

Two or Three small problems, food service a little slow, the lounge is always full, plus the lack of a lift to take you to the second floor. Maybe I place a little more emphasis on this because I am disabled, but, in the very large carpark the disabled spots are right next to the main doors. The hotel is spotless, so are the rooms I have used, the sound installation works very well in the rooms I have used.

Very large garden area in the centre of the two wings of the hotel, ideal to use instead of the lounge during the summer evenings.

I mentioned the slowish service, if you want a change there is a Frankie and Benny's just around the back of the hotel, as well as shops and a cinema, if you want a change from the inhouse movies.

The staff in the reception and Junction Restaurant are most helpful and nothing is to much trouble.

Parts of the hotels are showing their age, the tables in the restaurant for example, but on the whole the hotel is quite well furnished.

I said I had spent 5 nights in the last year here and will continue to use because of the standard and location right next to the M40 and a small trip south to the M4, ideal for Heathrow, centre of London and Windsor Castle.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back away from the motorway.

“Disastrous Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

On Sunday 11 December 2011, we stayed at the Holiday Inn at High Wycombe. Whilst most aspects of the stay were satisfactory, the food and the service in the restaurant were very bad. Our evening meal was bland and tasteless at the best and the service was slow. At breakfast, the coffee was served cold and we had to wait for eggs. By the time eggs arrived, the other food (bacon) was cold.
We had stayed at the same hotel for 2 nights on a previous occasion (16 & 17 September 2011) and on the service was so bad that I complained to the manager, but this clearly did no good as things deteriorated even more for our stay on 11 December.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feed-back regarding your stay at Holiday Inn High Wycombe with regard to the disappointing standard of your evening meal and breakfast.
Firstly I apologise that your expectations of a high standard were not met on both occasions you stayed with us and hope that the recent appointment of a new Head Chef and the fact that a Food and Beverage Manager has been appointed to start at the end of this month will assure you that the standards in these particular areas will improve.
Customer feedback is a vital part of our business and it is through constructive comments that we are able to strive to improve the service we offer. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I hope to welcome you back to the Holiday Inn, High Wycombe in the near future.
Kind regards,

“Well-located and cheapest in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I spent a night at this hotel after a work Christmas party in nearby Marlow, and after some searches online found that it easily had the best price versus location combination. If you're on a budget, this hotel is certain to appear in searches for the High Wycombe area.

Things began well long before I checked in. I wanted to leave my car on-site all day (I got a lift in to the office from a colleague ahead of the party) and this was no problem. Arriving at 7:30am, the staff even tried to check me in extra early, but understandably no rooms were available at this time. The hotel were still happy to take my overnight bag and store it however.

I eventually checked in just after midnight. I've read the previous reviews here about noise from the M40; I stayed in room 134, on the south wing of the building - nearest the motorway - but on the north side. There was absolutely zero disturbance from here, so I can't really comment, except to say that it is true the hotel is very close to the eastbound carriageway. Outside in the car park you certainly notice the traffic noise.

My room was in superb condition - no faults or problems whatsoever. The complimentary tea and coffee was welcome, and the shower was spot on too. A free copy of the Independent newspaper was another nice touch. Throughout the hotel everything was in top order and there was nothing to complain about.

My room only cost £49 so breakfast being £15 extra was understandable, if perhaps a touch expensive. Had it been half that price I would certainly have stayed; as it was, because I was returning home I made a quick decision that morning to check out extra early to beat the Christmas traffic.

Overall, for the experience I received, the guys in High Wycombe get an easy five stars here. For being very helpful and courteous, and running a hotel in excellent order with great rates, it deserves a look if you're staying in the area and are watching your budget.

Room Tip: As per the previous comments, any north-facing rooms are perhaps best. The southern edge of the hote...

“Nice hotel for the price”

I have been here for one night, and the hotel not so bad. The room was spacious and the bed really comfortable. The people working at the reception really welcoming and nice. I felt treated as a valuable customer, and this does not happen all the time. The breakfast in the morning was so and so, but enough and variegate.
