A brief overnight stop on a trip round England found us at Birds Farm near Winford, Bristol, only five minutes drive from Bristol Airport yet full of rural charm and ambience. This yet-to-be-completed B & B project on a working farm is definitely worth a look-see. The converted stone barn itself has been finished, it's the grounds and driveway that haven't, they are rough and bear more than a passing resemblance to a building site, but hey, once you're inside for the night, you'd never know. The barn has five rooms - ours had a double bed with ensuite bathroom, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, wooden floors and attractive decor. The room was a little on the small side but very clean and well-appointed. No breakfast provided but as we'd had a wonderful dinner at the nearby George & Dragon Inn at Felton, a word in Mine Host's ear meant we were able to go back there the next morning for a full English Breakfast before continuing on our travels.
I would also recommend this accomodation if you are flying out from the airport, as I understand the farmer / owner also does secure airport parking - certainly his two dogs make excellent guard dogs !
