Slightly old fashioned hotel; however, the staff were very efficient and very helpful. The hotel was kept spotless. I had to kindly ask the waitress at breakfast to stop spraying the tables around us as the smell of disinfectant put us off our food.
Our twin room was upgraded (free as the hotel had a couple of quiet nights, according to the receptionist) although not sure what the standard room would have been like as the upgraded room was no more than we would have expected from a 4* hotel. We found the beds uncomfortable.
The swimming pool, sauna and changing rooms were pretty awful - looked like a dated school pool and changing rooms. We take 6 short hotel breaks a year with 3 & 4 star rating and only stay where the hotel has leisure facilities, however, we used the facilities just once in this hotel as it was such a horrible environment.
The grounds are nice and the location is excellent for Bath and Bristol - some good walks from the hotel and a nearby golf club. Set in a quiet location and the parking was free which is unusual for a 4* hotel.
