“Good value, service and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I stayed at the Washington recently and found it excellent value for money. The staff on the front desk were always lovely and friendly and the 24 reception was very helpful for nights out as you didn't have to worry about the key! The room we had on the first night was next to the reception, which was convienient but a bit loud for us light sleepers (people coming in and having a chat with the reception staff) however, when we spoke to them in the morning they were brilliant and arranged for a new room for us and moved our luggage there while we were out. The breakfast was brilliant every time!

It is in an excellent location and we were able to enjoy lots of shopping while in Bristol. If you are on a budget I would recommend staying here. The decor is slightly dated but it is clean, friendly and easy to find.

“Couldn't have been better!”

I stayed here in the week before Christmas so the atmosphere around the hotel was really festive and friendly! I visit Bristol quite regularly, but this is the first time I have ventured up to Clifton from the city centre and I have to say I will be doing it again - the area is much nicer and it is much quieter too. This hotel in particular was great value for money although parking is an extra charge (but cheaper than city centre where I paid £12 per night). The breakfast was really tasty and very busy (always a good sign I think). Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs, ask for a ground or first floor room.

Me & my boyfriend stayed here for 2nights whilst visiting friends in bristol. The hotel was excellent, the staff were very polite and helpful. Our room was a little on the small side but it didn't really bother us, and it was also very very warm. Not so much a problem for me but my boyfriend thought it was to hot. Room was very clean which i think is always the most important thing. The breakfast was ok, just the usual you would expect. I would happily stay here again and think you get what you pay for with this hotel. Would also recommend going to Racks as the food is lovely. This hotel is also very easy to access from the m5. Only downside is that i had asked for a quiet room if they could do it but got put in a road side room, and its very nosy but we managed, but then also going to Bristol what do you expect so that's not really something the hotel can be blamed for.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from roadside.

“Great hotel if you are on a budget”

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in November 2011. Although the decor is a little tatty it is a great hotel if you are on a budget. The room we stayed in overlooked St Paul's Road and did not keep us awake during the night and the bed was comfy. The room was small but sufficient and the shower room was clean and with adequate white towels. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the waitresses very welcoming. We parked the car outside the hotel in St Paul's Road so did not have to use the hotel parking.

“Highly recommend this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I went to Bristol with a colleague on a course and stayed at The Washington Hotel for 1 night. We were provided with excellent customer service and the hotel was good value for money. The twin room had good facilities and the beds were very comfortable. Properly the only criticism was the shower temperature did not remain at a constant temperature.

The breakfast next day had a good selection and was well cooked.
