Picked this hotel because of the parking facilities. Booked a twin and double room and we both got triple rooms so plenty of space. Lovely bathroom. Plenty of milk for teas and coffees. Had to ask for the heating to be turned up ( probably low because not many guests) No complaints about the furnishings and beds were comfy . Good choice at breakfast with pleasant staff. Had one evening meal and that was good.

Stayed one night, thank goodness, this hotel is tired and shabby, the best thing about it was there was plenty of parking available, now I know why. The room was very basic if a little worn, the bed was ok the telly a postcard in the top corner of the room, the bathroom was clean but had no heating, so when you stepped out of the shower be prepared to shiver. The heating in the room was sufficient but there was no adjustable thermostat and went off in the night. Excellent view of the car park from our room 36. Hotel seemed to be frequented by workman, obviously because it is a cheap place to stay when working locally. However our worst experience was in the restaurant, my wife ordered a vodka and coke, the coke was flat. Then the meal, the food was of poor quality under cooked vegetables and the duck was not cooked sufficiently, having sent it back it was brought back 20 minutes later dried out, with no sauce, we were told they had run out of plum sauce. The restaurant manageress was very abrupt when I told her I was not paying the full price for the meal as the standard was not acceptable, and we ended up eating seperately due to time taken to sort out the problem. Breakfast was adequate. This hotel needs a total shake up and referbishment.
Definitely would avoid this hotel in the future.

“average and convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

the lodge is convenient for the airport but is a decent journey from the city centre. romm was clean and basic just very ordinary really. i paid £60 which it seems isnt unreasonable. it feels a little gloomy and dated. having said all that its ok. wouldnt rush back would probably would go back at a push.

Room Tip: no shops arouind so make sure you take provisions

“Like a bad dream”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

What a strange experience I just had staying at the Town and Country Lodge! It was like a surreal combination of My Name is Earl and Twin Peaks but in a grotty 1970s UK motel. Fortunately it was just somewhere for me and my family to rest our heads for the night after a wedding party nearby - you definitely wouldn't want to spend any serious amount of time here.

Lots of strange people seem to hang out at the lodge - perhaps on their way to a planned robbery or just for the general ambience of the place, which is faded old pub glamour, complete with sticky patterned carpet, a general ingrained smell of cigarette smoke and lots of brown furniture. To be fair, the room itself wasn't that bad, but it's the kind of place where your 7 year old son turns on the telly and the only options seem to be porn channels, and paper thin walls.

The breakfast was OK - buffet Joe's caf style - but when my son and I headed up to the toilets (at about 10.30am) it was still full of the debris of the revellers from the night before, including lots of empty cider cans, fag buts in the urinals, and something indescrible on the floor of the toilet cubicle - I had to shout "don't touch anything" quite a lot!

Would avoid, unless nowhere else available. I just didn't have a nice atmosphere and felt pretty dodgy.
