“Excellent friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

Myself and my husband really enjoyed our stay it was so peaceful and really clean, the food was great my husband was glad to see tin tomatoes instead of a grilled tomaoto as any where we stay before didn't provide this on there breakfast.
The staff where really helpful and could'nt do enough for us, especially as we didin't know the area they advised us on places to go and how to get there.
The grounds around the hotel were beautiful it was just a shame the weather wasn't better so we could enjoy sitting in the hot tub!!!!!
It was a fantastic place to stay when you would like some alone time with your partner.
As for the review where the person said the man with the tattoos sat on reception that was my husband and he was doing business things on his laptop as the hotel provided wi-fi free of charge which ment that we didin't have to find somewhere to do our work. I don't think this person realised that the hotel was open to other guests not just there party. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice friendly atmosphere and value for money.

“Bizarre hotel that isn't as bad as it looks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Likes: The rooms were quiet, beds quite comfortable with cotton sheets, clean and with an acceptable bathroom - no shortage of hot water. Friendly staff, although not what you would expect in a hotel.
Dislikes: Who could run a hotel with beaten up old cars in the car park - the first thing you see as you drive in? The name of the hotel srawled on a blackboard next to the door - like something out of Fawlty Towers! The outside of the hotel desperately needs attention and the foyer smells of dog and damp (don't mind the dog - barking - he's friendly - he was). The owner (?) fished a key out of a huge tupperware box so we could get in late (and there was a manager there when we returned at 12.15am) so no real complaints there. Breakfast was ordered for 9.30. We were 20mins late and everything seemed a bit overcooked - why cook it in advance if we were the only guests? And tinned tomatoes? Do you have fresh coffee? Yes we have coffee - Nescafe. All the while a nice young chap in t shirt and jeans, tattooed from head to toe, sat in the foyer with a laptop. No idea what he was doing there. This hotel is in a time warp, unfortunately not the right time. If someone spent some money on the building and brought in modern hotel standards the problem would be solved. Until then, it's an overnight stop in a quiet location at a price way beyond its fair value.

“Seen better days.....this hotel needs taking in hand”

Full marks for size of room; cleanliness; swimming pool; hot tub;
Half marks for full English breakfast - tinned tomatoes?!!
No marks for breakfast coffee (half cold and tasteless; how long had it been sitting there?) evening meal; (buffet - consisting of quiche and pies with vegetables like school dinners and chewy meat casserole. There are no hot plates to keep food warm, just covered with aluminium foil!) atmosphere of dining room; general condition of the building and grounds.
This is a beautiful building which has been allowed to fall into disrepair. Virginia creeper is untidily growing all over the walls and windows! "Improvements" have been made consisting of decor and lighting which is quite out of character with the building and can only be described as tacky. It is reasonably priced for what you get. If you stay here you will get a comfortable bed, a good night's sleep and breakfast. I would, however, recommend you visit the friendly pub across the road for drinks and food or the Indian restaurant within walking distance just down the road.

“Like home from home”

Our son and his now wife were married at Rangeworthy Court Hotel, and coming from the rural Wales we could have asked for a better setting, the hotel is small, quirky and cosy, has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, set in the heart of the countryside, with a pretty walled garden in the front. The day flowed from the wedding ceremony to the reception and evening party very calmly, the staff went about their duties so well, you did not even notice they were there. Having the hotel entirely to ourselves made such a difference, it was just like home from home, everyone commented how well they slept in the rooms as the beds are so comfy. Would definatley love to stay there again.

“A Fantastic Weekend!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

My daughter and son-in-law picked this hotel for their wedding venue, and it was absolutely perfect. Dawn and Bob (the owners) and their staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, they were so organised and worked really hard to make sure that the day was perfect.

The ceremony itself was at the house in one of the lounges, followed by the wedding breakfast in the dining room. The meal was amazing, the guests had a choice of three starters, mains and desserts. I picked the roast beef in red wine sauce which just fell apart in the mouth, everyone was impressed with their meals so compliments to the chef.

After the meal some of us took advantage of the beautiful weather we had and went for a swim in the heated outdoor pool while others opted for champagne in the outdoor hot tub.

The evening was lovely, there were around 80 - 100 guests, there was plenty of room for all of them, the dining room was turned in the disco and there were cosy lounges with log fires for those that wanted to put their feet up and catch up with friends and relatives.

The bar was well stocked and very reasonably priced. If you let Dawn know of any particular drinks that you require, she will make sure that they have plenty in stock.

The evening buffet was superb, we had a finger buffet which consisted of a variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, samosas, chicken and lovely crispy roast potatoes. There was so much food, people were going back for seconds and thirds and
there was still loads left, some guest that were staying even took trays to their rooms!

Breakfast was excellent, cereals, toast, and full english. On the morning of the wedding the bride and her helpers were given bacon sandwiches and big mugs of tea and coffee in her room. Which was nice.

Hats off to Bob & Dawn and their boys who also worked really hard to make it such a perfect wedding. I give this hotel 5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the beautiful house and 5 stars for the service.
