Just got back from staying at the Rangeworthy with a colleague on a business trip. Despite us mucking them about a bit due to my colleague and I changing our travel plans almost daily (due to illnesses in both families) the Rangeworthy were very accommodating and rapid to respond to our emails. The house is a wonderful mixture of different centuries throughout and is set in a secluded lane (so secluded our taxi driver missed it and dropped us at one of the neighboring houses!) The rooms we both had were larger than expected and were very comfortable. I hate sweltering hot rooms and this room (22) was just right for me. I rarely sleep properly in hotels, but I slept well here in a comfortable 4 poster bed, in almost absolute silence (those C14 floorboards occasionally squeak!). I used the free wifi, mostly in the lounge (cellphones struggled in the thick walled rooms) and the wifi was easy to connect without any faffing about. Wooden fires and comfy sofas let us relax in the lounges downstairs. We ate a hearty well priced home-cooked dinner of beef stew and had a few drinks and then retired to quiet rooms. We ate a full English breakfast the next day and Bob was so kind to offer us a lift personally to our meeting at a company down the road, rather than faff around with ordering taxis. He dropped us right at the door of our venue. What service!
If you like boring run of the mill square boxes in busy cities, this is not the place for you. If you like individual charm, friendly service, peacefulness, buildings with history, some seclusion and something off the beaten track, then you'll be following me back again.
