My Fri/Sat/Sun night stay at the Berkeley Square Hotel in October 2011 was a nightmare.
A wedding party was staying and the reception was held at the Hotel. Every year I stay here for a weekend Festival, I'd always been happy with the Hotel, & quality service provided by the staff, which is why I booked year after year. Location is good & it's a small well established hotel, important for a lady on her own. I always book a room on the top floor, although the corridors are narrow, it's much quieter. Parties sometimes held in the basement mean lower rooms can be noisy. This time families with children were staying on the top foor, loud conversations in the corridors, kids running about shouting & banging doors made my stay quite unbearable. I complained to reception a number of times only to be told "Sorry but it is a wedding party" On Sunday morning when they were leaving I was woke early to a lot of noise again. I had paid £183 in advance with no breakfast. My advice to anyone thinking of staying at this Hotel ..DO NOT pay in advance.& check if they have a wedding party booked. My friends stayed at a large well known chain Hotel nearby, they paid less & had a full English breakfast. I realise Hotels need wedding parties to survive in a competitive market but I feel the staff were inconsiderate to me. They should have given me a refund on the Friday night & I could have gone to the same Hotel as my friends. I will not stay here again
