My wife and I stayed here at the end of January on an overnight dinner, breakfast package booked through travel zoo to celebrate her birthday. For the £ 135 paid it was excellent value for money, but what makes this so ? Quite simply the staff, they welcome you on arrival and the hotel has a numnber of quality rooms which if your lucky, as we were you will find yourself upgraded to a deluxe room or suite. Indeed if its quiet, why not ask ? If you dont ask you dont get.
The rooms are of an excellent standard, clean and well proportioned, the bathroom area could be described as small, however I wasnt paying to stay in a bathroom, they are adequate and clean. Ask for a room on the 6th floor on checking in, you wont be disappointed.
The bar, albeit expensive offers well made drinks and bar staff who provide nuts and crisps free of charge with drinks. The restaurant is impressive, serving excellent quality food and the service is 100%. Again I will say that the wine is on average £ 22 a bottle, which is over priced, however if as we were you are celebrating a special occasion then there should be a bit of room here to enjoy the setting and standards set. The menu in the restaurant is well thought out and the presentation of food is absolutely first class. The breakfast, is absolutely nailed on, and cooked to order. If you have any food complaints at this location, really, Im not sure what your looking for out of life.
Outside the hotel there are a number of bars witin 2 minutes walk across the river, and these have excellent drinks offers ( there is a theme occurring here ) I would highly reccomend the hotel, from the staff's attentive professional standards to the setting, food delivery and its location close to all the local museums and amenities. The only downside is that many attractions are closed on Monday in Bristol, so plan ahead.
I have been reviewing where we visit for some time now, and if you have been on the receiving end of a bad dose of my ' punk rock medicine ' then I suggest you contact the manager at The Bristol Hotel for some simple but effective pointers to gaining excellent comments for customer service. It isnt rocket science but for some hotels you would think it was quantum physics.
Check it out, and a big thanks to Raphael Herzog and all his staff for making our trip a memorable one, this doesnt happen all the time, far too many hotels flatter to deceive - so when a hotel does deliver its very much worthy of a mention.
And you got one. 9 punk rock points out of 10.
