“Good value and convenient for business”

I have stayed on business at the Holiday Inn, Filton several times recently. It is within easy walking distance of the Bristol Business Park. The hotel is very clean and efficient with fast check-in. Rooms are generally spacious, very clean and functional. The bar area is very busy but provides attentive service, although drinks prices are quite high! Breakfast is a good spread with fresh fruits, continental style as well as fresh pastries and the usual English. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will certainly be staying here again when next on business in the Bristol area.

“Surprising”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Normally I would not choose Holiday Inn, I have preferred Premier Inn in the past, when staying on business. The Filton Holiday Inn was booked for me by a colleague. The room was very clean and comfortable. The surprise was that the standard of the restaurant food was excellent. The restaurant serves Chinese food, the menu is comprehensive and is of an excellent standard. I found all of the members of staff to be efficient and very professional. I plan to stay again.

“Enjoyable stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Our second stay here for a family weekend and we had a good time.

Bit puzzled though, as to why the light spacious restaurant was closed in the evenings and we had to eat in the Sampans restaurant. This was small, dimly lit, crowded and noisy, not at all what I was hoping for had we been in the restaurant. The following evening when all 8 of us were there it was slightly less crowded but we must have made it rather noisy for the other diners in the small enclosed space. Even more surprisingly breakfast was served in the main restaurant!

The food was good, but at breakfast on both mornings we were served cold coffee and had to ask for replacement hot cups, we'd booked a family room for my daughter and two children, but had to ask for sheets etc for childrens' beds, surely they should have known they were needed? Also there was a mistake in the bill as the childrens' meals should have been free of charge and In our room the radiator whooshed and gurgled, fortunately not all night.

I don't want this to seem too negative because overall it was good enough, but I can't help feeling that there were perhaps a few too many little niggles.

Room Tip: If you can afford an upgrade ask for room 406, the biggest in the hotel!

Thank you for your feedback. In relation to the restaurant being closed, January is a quiet period for us, and due to the number of guest's staying that night, we decided to close Junction restaurant and serve both menus from Sampans Restaurant to try and create a nicer atmosphere for our guest's. Although from your feedback I can see on this occasion it didn't work and we have taken your comments on board.
The sheets for the sofa bed should have been in your room prior to your arrival, please accept my apologies that they were not ready for you. I have passed your comments onto the Housekeeping Manager.
Once again, thank you for leaving constructive feedback, from which we can work on to improve our guest satisfaction within the hotel. I do hope you will visit us again to see the issue's rectified on your next stay.

“Fit for purpose”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Had a 1 night stay on business at the Holiday Inn, Filton. Hotel is very clean and a fast check in due to me being a priority club member (plus a complimentary drink in the bar!!). Room was spacious, very clean and functional. Bar area was very busy but attentive service was maintained. Drinks prices are quite high and some real/hand pull ale would have been good. Bar snacks were pricey but were of good quality. Breakfast was acceptable although the kitchen had run out of scrambled eggs!! All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would certainly stay there again when on business in the Bristol area

We like to recognise and reward our Priority Club members; it's great to hear you enjoyed your complimentary drink at the bar. I am disappointed to see that our kitchen ran out of scrambled eggs during your breakfast experience, this has been passed onto our Executive Head Chef. “One of the better Holiday Inns”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Stayed here for work a couple of weeks ago. Nice place with friendly staff. In fact probably the most staff I've seen at a HI. Room was usual fare. A bit on the small side but not bad. One gripe I always have about HIs now is the automatic service charge they add to everything. Just get it removed at when you check out. This is an out and out rip off. A pint of Becks for an eye watering £3.90 plus 10% SC is just scandelous. Ok winge over. Nice place and great location for my work visit. Would recommend.

Thank you very much for your positive comments; I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We do add a service charge onto the bill if service is involved, however this is completely your choice whether you would like to pay and can be removed at the time of purchasing your food/beverage or at reception. Once again, thank you for your feedback; we hope to see you again soon!
