“All the basic comforts for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed for 4 nights for a city break.

Good: walking distance to temple meads train station, 10 -15 minutes walk to city centre shops/food etc, friendly staff, room was large, comfy bed, pillow options firm or soft, tea coffee in room, breakky included (cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, toast, hot drinks, juices so hot food options too) , modern decor, cleaning service good and if you say "do not disturb" they leave fresh towels, coffee etc in a little pack at your door for you, bus stop right out the front

not so good: we were in 105, (wheel chaird friendly room, not that we needed it, only one left!) it has an open plan bathroom which meant shower water is not contained and spreads over half the bathroom floor, also, the drains smelt all the time like old water.
breakfast included powered eggs. not very nice but if you don't like it, don't eat it i suppose.

Room Tip: make sure you're not in one of those rooms connected to another room with a common door, you can...

“basic hotel but clean and efficient and convenient for station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Stayed for one night and booked this hotel because it was a bed for the night and I was continuing my onward journey next morning by rail.
Hotel across from station - which incidentally was designed by Kingdom Brunel and is spectacular.
Hotel does look like a multi storey car park and is not attractive in the slightest.
Very basic, reception is adjoined to bar which houses breakfast dining area.
\check in quick, efficient and friendly. Vending machine in reception if you want a coffee, latte or whatever. Vending machine for cans and choc.
No food available, however some takeaway menus in reception and they will lend you a plate and cutlery!
Bedroom clean, spacious and well decorated but basic.
Bed comfy, pillows comfy and a choice of firm or soft. Good nights sleep and no noise even though I was at front of hotel.
Breakfast - continental and some scrambled eggs and baked beans available.
Great for a stopover but wouldn't want to holiday here!

“Not an exceptional Holiday Inn Express”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

This hotel has clearly seen some heavy action. As such, it's not an exceptional Holiday Inn Express. It is slightly shabby. Roadside rooms suffer from traffic noise.

That said, the hotel is very well located for rail connections, Temple Meads staion is seconds away.

Drivers should note that the car park has been made very secure. This is a good and bad thing. I guess that it is a clue to problems tthat may be prevalent in the area.

Dear Disgusted17,

Thank you for sharing your review. We appreciated all the comments that our guests have given us in order to keep us improve.

As indeed our hotel is very well located like you said, we aim to be able to meet our guests in their different needs. Requests are welcome before or upon arrival for a room at the back of the hotel, which is overlooking the car park and residential area. Or if you wish to enjoy a nice view of Temple Meads Station, a room on high floor, facing front with triple gazing windows would be of a very enjoyable stay to you.

Our gated car park which is a privilege, and made to be very secure for our In-House guests, who are only given the code and permit to park on a first-come-first-served basis by the hotel reception. Our guests’ safety and security is always our priority.

Once again, thank you for staying with us and please feel free to contact us for room arrangement when you plan to come and stay with us again next time.

Kamen Cheng

“so convenient, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Reading all of the negative reviews here, I am very surprised- I had a great experience. After flying overnight, seeing that the hotel was directly across the street from where the airport bus stopped was such a relief. I arrived in the morning, and the staff let me store my luggage for the day and have breakfast, which was great. Then I walked across the street to catch a train. Their wireless internet was reasonably priced and reliable. The customer service exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dear SuperPicnicWoman,

We are very chuffed to read this very positive comment here.
Thank you for writing a review for us and this has certainly given the whole team here
an encouragement to continue making our guests stay a memorable one.

Indeed our hotel is situated just opposite of the Temple Meads Station for flyers who take the
shuttle bus from Bristol International Airport and travellers who come by train.
We always try to accommodate our guests needs whenever the possibilities are available.

Once again, thank you for taking your time to share your experience with us and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

“Clean and well situated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I stayed here for a few days in May. The hotel is adequate, rooms are comfortable and bathrooms have a nice simple design.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good in the mornings with fresh food, juice, tea and coffee etc.

Next to train links and not too far from the city centre but no the best location on the main road and very very very difficult to park unless you use the car park at an extra fee around the back which has limited Holiday Inn spaces.
