“Just right for Bristol”

Just off J16 of the M5 and only 30 mins from central Bristol in rush hour traffic, this modestly-priced B&B ticked all the boxes for me. I found a spotlessly clean and comfortable room and bathroom, free WiFi, a substantial cooked breakfast very well prepared by the owners Mike and Pauline Tilley, who are just as pleasant and welcoming as the other reviewers say. The establishment comprises several buildings: my room, No.4, was self-contained and had a door opening directly on to the car parking area, which allows you to come and go as you please without feeling that you are tramping through someone's house! The place was full when I stayed: several of the other guests were regulars and I could see why the place generates a high level of repeat business. Grey House is cheaper than the budget chain hotels in central Bristol and well worth it. The owner managers show just how to combine value and efficiency with warmth and personal service. I recommend this place without hesitation and will stay again the next time I overnight in or around Bristol.

Room Tip: Some rooms, e.g. No.4, open directly, motel-style, to the car parking area.

Just spent the weekend here and felt as if I had to write a review. So pleased with the welcome we received from Pauline and Mike and felt that nothing was too much trouble for them. Immediately felt as if we had known them for years. Room was lovely and warm and welcoming after a long day. Immaculately clean with lovely thick carpet. Bathroom was spotless and plenty of clean towels and hot water. Breakfast was very good and we didnt even feel like eating until tea time!! Freshly cooked and as much tea / coffee as you wanted. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

“A Warm Welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

In spite of arriving early we were welcomed in such a cheerful and friendly way that all potential awkwardness was immediately dispelled. The accommodation (double ensuite) was clean and comfortable and more than adequate for an overnight stay. Breakfast, served by the cheerful and friendly co-owner Pauline, was not exactly gourmet fare but perfectly cooked and certainly one of most substantial that we have ever had. Unfortunately the night (midweek) was warm and our open window let in enough early rush-hour traffic noise to make it difficult to sleep as late as we wished. In other respects though we would recommend this B&B.

“Couldn't ask for better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

Stayed here for two nights back in July 2011. The B&B is in a very convient location being reasonable close to the M4 and M5 motorway. Both nights I had a good peaceful sleep and there was no real noise of traffic to annoy me. Each morning I woke up to a fantastic full English breakfast which kept me going for most of the day. I'd recommend anyone to stay here in future and if I find myself in Bristol again I won't hesitate to book the place again.
