“Great experience”

On arrival used the public toilet, exceptionally clean, warm welcome at reception, queen sized bed! Nice touch of box tissues and cotton wool. Used the restaurant here and the food was fantastic and extremely well presented. Leaflet in room with ideas for walks which my husband and I did even though it was sleet outside but in the bar there is a great log fire.I thoroughly recommend this hotel. It was a great shame we only stayed 1 night.

“A break after a break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We booked here in september but my wife broke her ancle and we had to cancel so this break was a replacement. We booked for the Valentine weekend (Wine and chocs in room and a special meal)plus an extra day.
As previous guests have commented the hotel looks slightly tired but the staff are far from it.
We were made very welcome and our room was very spacious facing the road with the bathroom overlooking the valley. There is a good bar area to sit and have afternoon tea and in the evening have a drink and chat, the resturant overlooks the valley and the food matches the view EXCELLENT. We will be visiting again and will also take my elderly mother as there are rooms to suit her needs.

Room Tip: Perhaps one facing the rear as I do not know how noisy the road is at the front but it was quiet at...

“A relaxing 2 day stay”

A beautifully situated hotel in delightful grounds and outstanding views. On arrival we were slightly suprised by the tired decor HOWEVER please don't let this put you off. Our room overlooked the rear of the hotel which has outstanding views. The room was very clean and though there were radiators it also had an extra wall mounted heaters which we could adjust though out our stay. It came in useful as the outside temperature dropped to minus 8. (when the radiators were on you didnt need the extra heater) The staff were polite and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant both nights. The food is excellent quality. Try the curry! Breakfast was of excellent quality. I would definately recommend this hotel and stay there again. We had a chilled out stay here, relaxed in the bar and dined on quality food. Enjoy!

“A WARM WELCOME ON A FREEZING COLD SNOWY DAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

my wife & I arrived on Saturday on a freezing cold snowy afternoon & we're made very welcome by the receptionist. We booked 2 nights through Groupon & what an amazing bargain this turned out to be. We had a spacious bedroom on the 1st floor with breathtaking views of the valley made even more magical by the covering of snow. The Groupon deal included a meal for 2 which turned out to be a sumptious feast, we would recommend the food at the Pilgrim to anyone even if not staying at the hotel. The bar area is made very comfortable by a roaring fire, very welcome on such a cold weekend. Overall this is an excellent hotel with very friendly & helpful staff, you would be mad to miss out on this gem.

Room Tip: choose a room overlooking the wonderful views of the valley.

Lovely stay, spotless room, excellent food, lovely bar, but most of all the quality of the staff made our weekend feel like home from home.

Room Tip: Room 5. Large room, very comfy bed, great views.
