My wife and I spent an afternoon at the Butchart Gardens, and it was one of the highlights of our visit to Vancouver Island. The landscaping is wonderful, the floral displays are breathtaking, and the overall experience is unforgetable.

We can describe our recommendation about Butchart Gardens in one word: GO. Now. This is an attraction not to be missed. As botanical gardens go, Butchart Gardens is absolutely one of the finest anywhere in the world. The variety of flowers is stunning. Everything is exquisitely maintained. The design, layout and landscaping of the individual gardens (a portion of the gardens exist in what was a vast limestone quarry escarpment) is incredible. Your eyes will be amazed by a stunning rose garden, a breathtaking Japanese garden, a gorgeous Italian garden, fountains, terrain and more. Benches are everywhere, giving young and old a chance to sit, rest and admire.

No trip to Butchart Gardens would be complete without an English High Tea. There's a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. The tea is superb, and the stacked tray of finger sandwiches, scones, sausage rolls and pastries was simply orgasmic. As we strolled and used up a digital camera's worth of photos, we overheard visitors from many other countries comment on how Butchart Gardens was the finest they had ever visited. We could not agree more. It's worth coming to British Columbia alone just to visit this special place.

Not a leaf was out of place. The colors and orderly arrangements of the gardens left nothing out of place. You and the gardens felt complete. This is a must see when in Victoria.

We approached the Butchart Gardens with some trepidation. We expected a highly manicured garden, just right for the tourist. We expected such a garden to be a negative. However while it was certainly manicured, it was to such an extent that it was possible to take delight from a garden that receives maximum attention and dollars. It was a most a enjoyable afternoon. Our enjoyment was multiplied by a delightful afternoon tea served by friendly and attentive staff. Well worth a visit.

We visited Butchart Gardens a couple of weeks ago. It was beautiful. Absolutely worth the trip. We loved the sunken gardens and the Japanese garden. A place that you should not miss on your trip to Victoria.
