I had the pleasure of staying at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa over New Years Eve. The room was more than well appointed - my boyfriend and I spent the first ten minutes marveling at the plush furniture, outdoor grill, and of course, the beautiful outdoor jacuzzi and fireplace. Too bad that it was the middle of winter, but we still tried for a tepid soak before we left, it seemed a shame to leave it unused. The shower was slightly confusing, and of course we read the instructional card too late. I ended up getting sprayed with hot water before I dove in there to turn it off, but that's just user error. The grounds were quite charming, and a walk along the beachfront rewarded us with seals, sea birds, and a pair of river otters playing on the rocks. Very romantic.
Even though most of the facilities were closed for the winter season, the hot tub was still operational, and the personal fireplace is more than up for the job.
I only have two small regrets: one, that I didn't get to spend as much time as I'd like to have spent there, and two, that I was maybe a little too eager to celebrate New Years Eve, and my New Years Day was spent mostly groaning. Luckily, however, I had that jacuzzi to soothe away the aches. A wonderful hotel, and I would definitely go there again.
