“Overpriced dive!!”

This hotel was booked for my elderly mom and myself through the agent on the BC Ferry arriving late at night from Prince Rupert.
I can't believe that this hotel was given a Gold rating...is this someone's idea of a joke?
The room was clean enough, but it looks old and dated.
Someone screwed up our reservation, so we ended up having to share a double bed. Great!
There was no plug-in for my hair dryer in the bathroom and the blanket on the bed smelled like gross perfume!
The guy at the front desk was not friendly at all. When I questioned if we had been overcharged (by only getting the one bed) he said that was the reason that the room was so cheap at $92.00.
Ha! One week earlier I stayed at the Mountainside Lodge in Whistler and got a gorgeous 2 room, 2 bathroom suite with a steam shower and full kitchen....for $92.00.
That was a serious bargain.....this was not. I would never recommend anyone stay in this dump...it was horrible!

Large hotel on the outskirts of Port Hardy, 5 minutes from the centre of a very small town. Check in person was not overly friendly and when we were there, the lift was out of order. The quad room was easily large enough and was a really good size with plenty of space to move around, store luggage etc. Large beds were comfortable. Standard en-suite facilities. Room was clean and tidy. Room and hotel decor seemed a bit on the dated side and in need of refreshing. Limited choice of loca restaurants, so we opted to eat at Alexandros, the hotel's own restaurant. Clean and tidy eating area, if largely uninspiring - rather like the menu. Attentive and very friendly waiting staff. Food was quite good, if a little on the expensive side for what was on offer. There are better hotels than this - but many, in the same price bracket will not be as good. Overall we were quite happy with the accommodation with no real complaints.
