We stayed for 2 nights in this lovely country inn. The rooms were great, complete with en suite shower and toilet, TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. We enjoyed eating both nights in the oak beamed dining room, where the ambiance was only bettered by the magnificent food, and not over-priced. It is a family run establishement and the proprietors couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. The inn is well situated, as it is only a short drive to Dovedale, ideal for walkers, and main attraftions like Chatsworth and Haddon Hall among others, and lovely villages such as Bakewell and Matlock Bath.

I cannot recommend this place enough.

We had a meal here on a recent holiday and the food was amongst the best we've had in a long while. My husband ordered fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and extremely tender and flavoursome. I had salmon which was wonderful - finished with a lime and herb topping. The desserts too were delicious. In addition the staff were friendly and knowledegable, the decor fresh and appealing and the prices very reasonable - what's not to like!

We stayed for two nights before picking up a narrow boat on the canal. The rooms were very clean, very comfortable and tastefully decorated with the added bonus of tea/coffee making facilities! The pub has a lovely atmosphere and does reasonably priced superb food, the chef (owner) and the team provided an excellent friendly and professional service. The location was brilliant, 15 minutes to Dovedale, close to Ashbourne and Alton Towers is about 7 miles away. There is lots to do in the area, so much so we are hoping to return next year, use the pub for a base and go out for days from there.
CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Friendly owners, we instantly felt at home, nothing was too much trouble. The room had great views and the bed was extremely comfortable which is rare in a night away! Our dinner was outstanding and great value for money, using local produce too. The service was very good and all the staff are friendly and helpful, offering us advice on places to visit and local walks. The whole stay was so relaxing that we have already booked our return visit in the autumn. We have no hesitation in recommending good friends and family to also visit if they are in area. If they're not, it's definitely worth a special visit!
